Assessment of the time of death (TD) at the site where the corpse is found is a most difficult task. Use of the method proposed by C. Henssge based on the use of special nomograms holds good promise. Our purpose was to derive the allowance coefficients which will extent the range of applications of this method. The research sample consisted of 156 cases. For each case we knew the ambient temperature at the site of the accident at the level of the corpse (which varied from -2 to +31 degrees C) and rectal body temperature (from +12 to +37 degrees C). The time of death was estimated with an accuracy of up to 15-30 min and varied from 2 to 22 h before investigation.

Introduction: Sarcomas are rare cancers originating from mesenchymal tissues, manifesting in diverse anatomical locations, but notably in connective tissue, muscles and the skeleton. Thoracic sarcomas present a unique diagnostic and surgical challenge attributable to their rarity and pathoanatomy. Standard practice currently comprises wide surgical excision, often accompanied by adjuvant chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.

Background: Since national essential medicine lists guide the procurement of medicines for populations in many countries, and cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally, including cardiovascular medicines on these lists can significantly impact healthcare outcomes.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, national essential medicines' lists from 158 countries were analysed on whether or not they included medicines to treat ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, and hypertensive heart disease. A linear regression model was used to evaluate the association between countries' coverage scores and amenable mortality.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate whether the hybrid technique yields superior outcomes in comparison with the total arch replacement combined with frozen elephant trunk (TAR + FET) for acute aortic dissection (AAD) involving the aortic arch.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study using propensity-score matching included patients with AAD involving the aortic arch admitted to Nanjing First Hospital and Shanghai General Hospital from January 2015 to June 2020. The in-hospital and mid-term outcomes were compared between patients who received hybrid treatment (n = 136) and those who received TAR + FET (n = 415).

Esophageal cancer, with its aggressive nature and high mortality, poses diverse epidemiological challenges worldwide. Over the past three decades, esophageal cancer has exhibited a substantial global burden, marked by a significant increase in absolute numbers, contrasting with a decline in age-standardized metrics. Prevalence nearly doubled, reaching 0.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common malignant primary brain cancer with poor prognosis due to the resistant to current treatments, including the first-line drug temozolomide (TMZ). Accordingly, it is urgent to clarify the mechanism of chemotherapeutic resistance to improve the survival rate of patients. In the present study, by integrating comprehensive non-coding RNA-seq data from multiple cohorts of GBM patients, we identified that a series of miRNAs are frequently downregulated in GBM patients compared with the control samples.
