Objectives: To develop and test materials that may be useful in the design and further development of biodegradable ureteric stents.
Materials And Methods: Specimens of two plastics were placed in artificial urine of different pH for 30 days to examine the degree of dissolution of the plastic in alkaline and the stability in acidic conditions.
Results: The specimens remained stable in the artificial urine at pH < 7.0 for 30 days and dissolved completely at a pH > or = 7 within 48 h.
Conclusion: Plastics can be designed which may be useful in the further development of biodegradable ureteric stents. The rate of dissolution could be changed by influencing urinary pH.

This study provides a comprehensive investigation of antimicrobial additives (ZnO/AgNPs and SiO/AgNPs) on the properties of biodegradable ternary blends composed of poly(hydroxybutyrate) (PHB), poly(lactic acid) (PLA), and polycaprolactone (PCL) by examining the morphology, thermal stability, crystallinity index, and cell viability of these blends. Overall, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis revealed that AgNPs and SiO exhibited comparable sizes, whereas ZnO was significantly larger, which influences their release profiles and interactions with the blends. The addition of antimicrobials influences the rheology of the blends, acting as compatibilizers by reducing the intermolecular forces between biopolymers.

IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is an immune-mediated fibroinflammatory disorder that can affect multiple organs throughout the body, predominantly in middle-aged and elderly males, with a male-to-female ratio of 2꞉1 to 3꞉1. IgG4-related retroperitoneal fibrosis (IgG4-RPF), a rare subtype of IgG4-RD, has an unclear etiology, and its comorbidity with type 2 diabetes mellitus is also uncommon. A lack of awareness of this condition in clinical practice can easily lead to misdiagnosis.

Background: Giant hydronephrosis as an rare condition is often caused by chronic ureteral obstruction. Nephroplication is a crucial procedure to improve urinary drainage in the kidney-sparing surgery for patients with giant hydronephrosis. However, traditional nephroplication via suturing kidney has technical difficulty and many potential risks.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) represents a significant global public health challenge. This study aims to identify biomarkers of renal fibrosis and elucidate the relationship between unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO), immune infiltration, and cell death.
Methods: Gene expression matrices for UUO were retrieved from the gene expression omnibus (GSE36496, GSE79443, GSE217650, and GSE217654).
