Since its creation in 1965, Medicaid has operated as a federal-state partnership that provides a robust set of medical benefits to low-income families, including pregnant people and infants. In many ways, Medicaid has met its initial promise. However, medical benefits, provider payments, and key administrative procedures regarding eligibility, enrollment, and access to care vary substantially among state Medicaid programs.

Background: The Missed Opportunities for Maternal and Infant Health (MOMI) project, which aimed at upgrading maternal and infant postpartum care (PPC), implemented a package of interventions including the integration of maternal PPC in infant immunization services in 12 health facilities in Kaya Health district in Burkina Faso from 2013 to 2015. This paper assesses the coverage and the quality of combined mother-infant PPC in reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health services (RMNCH).
Methods: We conducted a mixed methods study with cross-sectional surveys before and after the intervention in the Kaya health and demographic surveillance system.

Aim: To report a trial protocol that evaluates the effectiveness of postnatal psychoeducation programme in improving maternal parental self-efficacy and social support and in reducing postnatal depression among primiparas.
Background: Primiparas encounter physical, psychosocial and newborn care challenges in the early postnatal period. However, primiparas do not receive adequate professional support after early discharge from hospitals, thus hindering their adaptation to new role as mothers and smooth transition to motherhood.

Objective: To determine if women with undocumented HIV status in late pregnancy or at labor and delivery who are rapidly tested and identified as HIV infected have high-risk behaviors and psychosocial obstacles hindering postpartum follow-up.
Methods: Consenting participants (women with undocumented HIV status and > or =24 weeks gestational age (GA) and imminent delivery or > or =34 weeks GA) in 6 cities were rapidly tested and interviewed. HIV-positive women were offered follow-up.
