Statistically significant correlations have been demonstrated between carcinogenic activity, toxicity and number of carbons per molecule for an extensive set of nitrosamines. Such correlations, involving only bulk molecular properties indicate that the chemical nature of the alkyl substituents need not be the sole determinants of carcinogenic activity. These structure-activity relationships can be used to estimate carcinogenic activity with some degree of confidence.

Indoor dust can adsorb various pollutants and long-term deposition can significantly impact air quality and human health. This study investigated the occurrence, source apportionment, and health risks associated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and their derivatives (d-PAHs) in indoor dust, by focusing on residential and public buildings in Nanjing, China. The concentration of 16 PAHs and 27 d-PAHs ranged from 511 to 5472 ng/g and from 422 to 2904 ng/g, with the most abundant compounds being fluoranthene and 1,2-benz[a]anthraquinone, respectively.

Amino acids, as the fundamental constituents of proteins and enzymes, play a vital role in various biological processes. Amino acids such as histidine, cysteine, and methionine are known to coordinate with metal ions in proteins and enzymes, playing critical roles in their structure and function. In metalloproteins, metal ions are often coordinated by specific amino acid residues, contributing to the protein's stability and catalytic activity.

The present study aimed to investigate the hydrogeochemical patterns and contamination of the radiogeology, especially radon activity, related to geothermal aquifer properties and to perform a risk assessment of annual effective doses covering all hydrothermal spring attractions in Southern Thailand. Radon is an established lung carcinogen; especially longer term exposure to radioactive radon through inhalation could be a cause of lung cancer risk. Altogether 22 hydrothermal spring samples were collected from the six hydrothermal provinces in Southern Thailand in early November of 2023.
