The authors elaborated a method of purification of staphylococcus enterotoxin, type B, consisting of three stages: the first stage--lyophilization and dialysis of the culture fluid against distilled water for 36 hours, the second stage--precipitation of dialyzed preparation with 2 volumes of ethanol at --15 degrees C, and the third stage--gel-chromatography of the enterotoxin preparation precipitated with alcohol on a column with Sephadex G-100 in a 0.015 M solution of NaCl (pH 7.0). Preparation isolated by the mentioned method possessed enterotoxic activity in a dose of 0.015 mg of protein per 1 kg of cat weight; by antigenic composition it represented a two-component system. In immunization of rabbits with a purified enterotoxin preparation an antiserum with the prevalence of antibodies to enterotoxin, type B, was obtained.

Medical students are exposed to the hospital environment and patients during their studies, increasing the risk of exposure to virulent and antibiotic-resistant isolates of Staphylococcus aureus. The aim of the study is to determine the prevalence of Staphylococcus aureus among medical students who have varying levels of exposure to the hospital environment to provide valuable insights into the risk of colonization and transmission. Nasal swabs and fingerprints were obtained and cultured on a selective medium for staphylococci.

Abrin, a toxin of the rosary pea plant (), has been implicated as causing an autoimmune demyelinating disease in humans, but the exact mechanisms responsible for the induction of these demyelinating conditions are still unknown. Certain superantigen microbial toxins such as Staphylococcus enterotoxin type A, type D, type E or streptococcal pyrogenic exotoxin type C also lead to various diseases including autoimmune disorders of the nervous system. Here, the effect of abrin toxin on the immune reaction was studied in human CD4 T-cell lines, and its inhibition of protein synthesis in kidney cells.

Objective: To investigate the molecular typing characteristics, drug resistance status and drug resistance gene carrying of food-borne Staphylococcus aureus in Ningxia.
Methods: Staphylococcus aureus isolated from food safety risk monitoring project in Ningxia in the past ten years were collected, drug resistance was detected using microbroth dilution method, enterotoxins were detected by real-time PCR. The strains were genotyped by pulsed field gel electrophoresis(PFGE) using SmaI endonuclease.

The toxigenic strains secrete tilymicin and tilivalline enterotoxins, which cause antibiotic-associated hemorrhagic colitis. Both enterotoxins are non-ribosomal peptides synthesized by enzymes encoded in two divergent operons clustered in a pathogenicity island. The transcriptional regulator Lrp (eucine-responsive egulatory rotein) controls the expression of several bacterial genes involved in virulence.
