The treatment of two operated solid splenic cysts has been reported by authors. Laparoscopic cyst fenestration has been demonstrated to be a useful alternative method to open surgery. The aim of the authors was to analyse the use of Ultracision Harmonic Scalpel in two spleen preserving procedures. Cysts were located in the superior and the anterior-inferior pole of the spleen. Cyst wall not covered by spleen tissues was removed, drain was left in the abdomen. In the demonstrating spleen cyst operation the advantages of HS instrument was the clean operating field, correct coagulation of cyst wall, short hospital stay. Authors believe that this new technology will make it easier and more desirable for surgeons to fenestrate symptomatic spleen cysts.

PD-L1/PD-1 checkpoint inhibitors (CPIs) are mainstream agents for cancer immunotherapy, but the prognosis is unsatisfactory in solid tumor patients lacking preexisting T-cell reactivity. Adjunct therapy strategies including the intratumoral administration of immunostimulants aim to address this limitation. CpG oligodeoxynucleotides (ODNs), TLR9 agonists that can potentiate adaptive immunity, have been widely investigated to tackle PD-L1/PD-1 resistance, but clinical success has been hindered by inconsistent efficacy and immune-related toxicities caused by systemic exposure.

Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) based messenger RNA (mRNA) therapeutics hold immense promise for treating a wide array of diseases, while their nonhepatic organs targeting and insufficient endosomal escape efficiency remain challenges. For LNPs, polyethylene glycol (PEG) lipids have a crucial role in stabilizing them in aqueous medium, but they severely hinder cellular uptake and reduce transfection efficiency. In this study, we designed ultrasound (US)-assisted fluorinated PEGylated LNPs (F-LNPs) to enhance spleen-targeted mRNA delivery and transfection.

In this article, we comment on the article by Cheng published in recently. Posthepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) remains a leading cause of hepatectomy-related mortality and can be evaluated according to liver reserve function. Liver stiffness (LS) measured by ultrasonic elastography and spleen area demonstrate a strong correlation with hepatic proliferation, fibrosis, and portal vein congestion, thus indirectly reflecting liver reserve function.

A splenic inflammatory pseudotumour (IPT) is a rare condition in which inflammatory cells and non-cancerous specialised cells known as myofibroblasts abnormally replicate in the spleen. Patients with IPT may experience symptoms like abdominal pain, fever and weight loss, making it difficult to distinguish from processes like cancer. As a result, diagnosing IPT often requires imaging studies and microscopic examination.

After describing the anatomy of the spleen and the most important immunohistochemical stains for identifying cellular constituents of the normal splenic compartments, etiologies of splenomegaly and the diagnostic approach for spleen biopsies are discussed using the example of a North African patient with a recent migration background and sudden fever. The focus is on infectious diseases and the morphology and molecular features of hematolymphoid neoplasms, particularly the primary "splenic B‑cell lymphomas" according to the World Health Organization (WHO) classification. The importance of clinicopathological correlations and interdisciplinary cooperation in splenic pathology is emphasized.
