Objectives: The objective of this study is to determine if the detection of DAN through Sudoscan can reclassify cardiovascular risk in patients with T2DM according to the European Society of Cardiology guidelines 2023 (ESC 2023) compared to other risk scales.
Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional analytical study was conducted on 161 patients with T2DM who had undergone Sudoscan in a Northern Mexico Hospital between December 2022 and July 2023. We compared the cardiovascular risk with SCORE-2, SMART, ADVANCE, ASCVD plus, and Globo Risk scales.

Background: Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is a heterogeneous condition characterized by complex pathophysiological changes affecting both autonomic and somatic components of the nervous system. Inflammation and oxidative stress are recognized contributors to the pathogenesis of DN. This study aims to evaluate the therapeutic potential of dichloroacetic acid (DCA) in alleviating DN symptoms, focusing on its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Background And Objective: Diabetic neuropathy significantly elevates the risk of foot ulceration and lower-limb amputation, underscoring the need for precise assessment of tissue perfusion to optimize management. This narrative review explores the intricate relationship between sympathetic nerves and tissue perfusion in diabetic neuropathy, highlighting the important role of autonomic neuropathy in blood flow dynamics and subsequent compromises in tissue perfusion. The consequences extend to the development of diabetic peripheral neuropathy and related foot complications.

Background: Diabetic patients may have neuropathy-induced gastroparesis predisposing them to aspiration. Point-of-care gastric ultrasonography (GUSG) is useful in the qualitative assessment of the antrum and quantitative prediction of gastric volume (GV) in diabetic patients. In this study, we compared the GUSG findings between fasting diabetic and non-diabetic patients in the elective preoperative setting.

Background: Clinical studies on atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after catheter ablation in patients diagnosed with patent foramen ovale (PFO) and paroxysmal AF (PAF) are scarce. Here, we aimed to develop a nomogram model utilizing multimodal data for the risk stratification of AF recurrence following catheter ablation in individuals diagnosed with PFO and new-onset PAF.
Methods: Patients with PFO and PAF who underwent catheter ablation at the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University from January 2018 to June 2020 were consecutively enrolled.
