The location shift model is commonly used to quantify the difference between groups in a two-arm study. Nonparametric inference procedures for the location shift parameter with censored observations have recently been extensively studied. However, the validity of these procedures depends heavily on the model assumption. In this article, a class of graphical and numerical methods are proposed for checking the adequacy of the location shift model. Our graphical procedures are much less subjective than the eye-ball method based on the standard Q-Q plot. The proposed methods are illustrated with real-life examples.

The precise localization of epileptic foci with the help of EEG or iEEG signals is still a clinical challenge with current methodology, especially if the foci are not close to individual electrodes. On the research side, dipole reconstruction for focus localization is a topic of recent and current developments. Relatively low numbers of recording electrodes cause ill-posed and ill-conditioned problems in the inversion of lead-field matrices to calculate the focus location.

(Theobald) (Hemiptera: Aphididae), commonly called the sorghum aphid, is an invasive pest of sorghum () (L.) in North America. It was first observed in 2013 along the Gulf Coastal Plains ecoregion of Texas, Louisiana (USA), and Mexico, where it quickly established itself as an economically important pest within a few years.

Background/objectives: An on-board imager on a linear accelerator allows the acquisition of kV-2D images during irradiation. Overlaying specific structures on these images enables the visual verification of movement at regular frequencies. Our aim was to validate this tracking method for the stereotactic treatment of bone metastases.

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI), surface-assisted laser desorption/ionization (SALDI), and time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOFMS) imaging are used for visualizing the spatial distribution of analytes. Mass spectrometry (MS) imaging of a sample with a rough surface with a uniform distribution of an analyte does not provide uniform ion intensities in the image. A shift in the value of the analyte ions is also observed.
