The authors submit results of treatment of patients having suffered from postherpetic pain syndrome (herpetic ganglionitis of the cervical, thoracic, lumbosacral localization, postherpetic intercostal neuralgia, ganglionitis of the trigeminal nerve). In viral diseases, amizone has marked analgetic, antiinflammatory, and immunomodulating effects. The drug is well tolerated by patients, is not associated with side effects under prescribed doses (0.25-0.75 as one dose on a three- or four-times daily schedule during the course of treatment lasting three or four weeks). The drug preparation in question is less effective in the treatment of chronic recurring post-therapeutic intercostal neuralgias, radiculalgia.

Enisamium is an orally available therapeutic that inhibits influenza A virus and SARS-CoV-2 replication. We evaluated the clinical efficacy of enisamium treatment combined with standard care in adult, hospitalized patients with moderate COVID-19 requiring external oxygen. Hospitalized patients with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection were randomly assigned to receive either enisamium (500 mg per dose, four times a day) or a placebo.

Materials And Methods: Gene expression was determined by real-time RT-PCR, the concentration of interleukins was determined by ELISA, and the viability of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) was assessed by the MTT spectrophotometric method. The chemiluminescence method was used to assess PBMC oxidant activity.
Routinely the influenza virus significantly contributes to the formation of the annual incidence of acute respiratory infections, with a peak in winter season. The high level of mutagenic potential of influenza viruses is a standard factor determining the complexity of the rational choice of pharmacotherapy. The upcoming epidemiological season 20202021 brings additional challenges for health care practitioners mediated by the widespread prevalence in the human population of a new infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus affecting the respiratory system among many organs and systems.

Aim: Characterization of the antiviral properties of enisamium iodide against human respiratory viruses in in vitro experiments.
Materials And Methods: In the course of experiments, the cytotoxic properties of enisamium iodide were studied against the cell lines Vero, MA-104, A549, L-41 and HEp-2.

Infections with respiratory viruses constitute a huge burden on our health and economy. Antivirals against some respiratory viruses are available, but further options are urgently needed. Enisamium iodide (laboratory code FAV00A, trade name Amizon) is an antiviral, marketed in countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States for the treatment of viral respiratory infections, but its clinical efficacy and mode of action are not well understood.
