A 10-15 cm. long isolated intestinal segment, in which peristalsis has been altered to run in a circular fashion, was interposed in a series of permanent ileostomy-bearing dogs and in two clinical cases with severe diarrhea after total colectomy. Excellent results in both patients confirmed the experimental findings. Technically the method is easily accomplished by cutting the antimesenteric site of the intestinal segment lengthwise and resuturing it transversely. Two major advantages of this technic are postulated. First, the retarding action of the isolated loop does not depend on the great variations observed in peristaltic activity of the small intestine which in some patients results in obstruction. Second, the blood supply to the loop is unlikely to be impaired. Possibly both these advantages derive from the fact that the loop is twisted only 90% instead of 180 degrees required in the ordinary reversed loop interposition.

A five-year-old male presented with small bowel obstruction and a worm bolus on a plain abdominal radiograph. Peritonism and acidosis prompted laparotomy after a short period of resuscitation. At surgery a worm bolus had caused a small bowel volvulus with a segment of necrosis that was successfully managed by detorsion and resection.

Accurate and efficient automatic segmentation is essential for various clinical tasks such as radiotherapy treatment planning. However, atlas-based segmentation still faces challenges due to the lack of representative atlas dataset and the computational limitations of deformation algorithms. In this work, we have proposed an atlas selection procedure (subset atlas grouping approach, MAS-SAGA) which utilized both image similarity and volume features for selecting the best-fitting atlases for contour propagation.

Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) is a bariatric surgical procedure commonly performed in adults to treat severe obesity. While RYGB is generally safe, it occasionally leads to rare but significant complications, including intussusception, a form of bowel obstruction caused by the invagination of an intestine segment from the proximal to the adjacent distal portion. We report a case of intussusception in a 74-year-old female patient who underwent RYGB 12 years prior.

Introduction And Importance: Stricture formation is a well-known Crohn's disease consequence that usually results from recurrent cycles of inflammation and healing and primarily affects the small intestine.
Case Presentation: In this report, we describe the case of a 35-year-old male with an 18-year history of Crohn's disease complicated by long-kinked ileal stricture who presented with a 3-month history of subacute small intestinal obstruction diagnosed with MR enterography and underwent failed medical treatment.
Clinical Discussion: The patient, a male showing signs of wasting due to a prolonged subacute small intestinal obstruction, underwent an MR enterography which revealed a 6-cm kinked ileal stricture.

Introduction: Giant inguinoscrotal hernias (GIH), defined as hernias extending below the inner thigh midpoint in a standing position, are rare and often seen in resource-limited settings due to delayed medical care. These hernias pose surgical challenges, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where standardized management protocols are lacking, and risks such as cardiorespiratory compromise are significant.
Case Presentation: A 55-year-old male presented with a large, irreducible right inguinoscrotal hernia of 1.
