RNA binding protein ALYREF regulates ferroptosis to facilitate LUAD growth and metastasis via promoting SLC7A11 mRNA stability.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Department of Lung transplantation and Thoracic Surgery, First Affiliated Hospital, College of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, 310000, China.

Ferroptosis is of great significance in carcinogenesis as it interconnects with a multiplicity of biological processes. Meanwhile, its function and regulatory role in lung cancer remains ambiguous. In this study, we discovered by WB and IHC that ALYREF has a higher expression in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) tissues compared with normal ones.

Pulmonary fibrosis is a pathological manifestation that occurs upon lung injury and subsequence aberrant repair with poor prognosis. However, current treatment is limited and does not distinguish different disease stages. Here, we aimed to study the differential functions of Axl, a receptor tyrosine kinase expressing on both macrophages and fibroblasts, in the whole course of pulmonary fibrosis.

Synthesis and antitumor activity of ultra-low molecular weight hyaluronic acid-decorated camptothecin conjugates.

Carbohydr Polym

March 2025

National Glycoengineering Research Center and Shandong Key Laboratory of Carbohydrate Chemistry and Glycobiology, Shandong University, Qingdao, Shandong 266237, China; Suzhou Research Institute of Shandong University, Suzhou, Jiangsu 215123, China. Electronic address:

Camptothecin (CPT) exhibits potent anticancer activity, but its clinical application is limited by poor solubility and severe side effects. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is gaining attention in drug delivery systems due to its excellent biocompatibility and tumor-targeting properties. In this study, we conjugated CPT to the reducing end of ultra-low molecular weight HA to create a series of HA-decorated CPT conjugates.

Advances in the impact of ASS1 dysregulation on metabolic reprogramming of tumor cells.

Cell Signal

January 2025

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Kunming Medical University, Yunnan, Kunming 650500, PR China. Electronic address:

ASS1(argininosuccinate synthase 1) is a rate-limiting enzyme in the urea cycle, catalyzing the synthesis of argininosuccinate from citrulline and aspartate to ultimately produce arginine and support cellular metabolism. Increasing evidence suggests that ASS1 is commonly dysregulated in the tumor microenvironment, promoting tumor cell metastasis and infiltration. With a deeper understanding of tumor metabolic reprogramming in recent years, the impact of ASS1 dysregulation on abnormal tumor metabolism has attracted growing interest among researchers.

Mast Cells and Arteriogenesis: A Systematic Review.

Cardiovasc Pathol

Department of Anatomical Sciences, St. George's University, School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies; Department of Pathology, St. George's University, School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies; Department of Clinical Anatomy, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota; Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School, College of Medical Sciences, Olsztyn, Poland. Electronic address:

Vascular occlusive diseases remain a major health burden worldwide, necessitating a deeper understanding of the adaptive responses that mitigate their impact. Arteriogenesis, the growth and remodeling of collateral vessels in response to arterial occlusion, is a vital defense mechanism that counteracts fluid shear stress-induced vascular stenosis or occlusion. While physical factors driving arteriogenesis have been extensively studied, the specific cellular mediators involved are poorly understood.
