Purpose: To evaluate the development of astigmatism after cataract extraction depending on the kind of incision
Material And Methods: Astigmatism was examined in 107 eyes of 92 patients, who underwent cataract extraction, mostly with IOL's implantation. In 52 eyes phacoemulsification with tunnel incision, measuring 5 mm in 27 and 8 mm in 25, was performed. In the control group of 55 eyes incision with scleral flap measured 2/5 of the corneal circumference. In cases with 5 mm incisions no sutures were used, in 8 mm incisions wounds were closed with single sutures and in control group the double continuous sutures were applied. Astigmatism was measured in two days, one week, four weeks and 3 months after surgery.
Results: Post-operative astigmatism decreased gradually and after 3 months was average 0.14 D in the eyes without sutures, 0.68 D in those with single ones and 1.78 D in the control group.

Anxiety is known to significantly impair cognitive function, particularly attentional control. While exercise has been demonstrated to alleviate these cognitive deficits, the precise neural mechanisms underlying these effects remain poorly understood. This study examines the effects of exercise on attentional control in individuals with high trait anxiety, based on attentional control theory, which suggests that such individuals have reduced top-down attention.

Background: Human visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a systemic disease with high case-fatality rates and a widespread distribution. Continuous evaluation of the risk factors for VL is essential to ensure the effective implementation of prevention and control measures. The present study reviews the factors associated with VL in the Americas.

Objective: To investigate the effects of modified twin-block appliances (MTBA) on obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and mandibular retrognathia and the changes in the upper airway, hyoid bone position, and hypoxia-related inflammatory marker levels in children with OSA.
Methods: This study included children with OSA and mandibular retrognathia and those with class I without mandibular retrognathia (n = 35 each). The experimental group comprised children with OSA and mandibular retrognathia managed using MTBA.

Objective: This study examines whether cross-education training of the healthy limb promotes cross-transfer through central nervous system stimulation, enhancing the function, kinematic parameters, dynamic balance, and plantar pressure of the affected knee joint in patients recovering from postoperative anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR).
Methods: Forty anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) patients, 5-6 weeks postoperatively, were included and randomly assigned to either an experimental group (n = 20) or a control group (n = 20). The experimental group participated in six weeks of cross-education (CE) training in addition to conventional rehabilitation, while the control group received only conventional rehabilitation.

Obesity and atherosclerosis are significant metabolic diseases characterized by disrupted lipid metabolism. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, conserved, non-coding RNA sequences consisting of approximately 22 nucleotides, playing crucial roles in biological and pathological functions. Among these, miR-33a/b is particularly associated with metabolic diseases, notably obesity and atherosclerosis.
