The DIA anatomic abutment system and telescopic prostheses: a clinical report.

Int J Oral Maxillofac Implants

Published: November 1997

Implant-supported prostheses may benefit from the versatility of design and favorable appearance offered by telescopic restorations. This project investigated the effectiveness of 208 abutments designed and produced by Dental Imaging Associates and the 73 prostheses supported by them over a 2-year period. No complications were found in the single-tooth group, although the sample was small (n = 7). Only 8.17% of the 208 abutment screws became loose during the initial postloading period. Once retightened, 2.4% of the total loosened for the second time. Higher screw-loosening rates were found in maxillary restorations, while the inclusion of a distal cantilevered pontic produced a significant increase in maintenance requirements.

Visfatin is an adipokine with mediatory effects on inflammation. It is expressed at low levels in the pig stomach, but its role in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is not well understood. This study explored visfatin expression and localisation in the stomach and duodenum of piglets fed varying levels of polyphenols derived from olive mill waste extract, known for their antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties.

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM), a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood sugar, leads to delayed or non-healing wounds, increasing amputation risks, and placing a significant burden on patients and society. While extensive research has been conducted on adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) for promoting wound healing, there is a scarcity of studies focusing on diabetic wounds, particularly those employing proteomics and bioinformatics approaches.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the mechanisms by which ADSCs promote diabetic wound healing using proteomics and bioinformatics techniques.

Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) infection is clinically related to various diseases, including porcine dermatitis and nephrotic syndrome (PDNS)-like disease, respiratory disease, reproductive disorders, and gastrointestinal and neurological diseases. Since PCV3 infection was discovered in 2016, it has developed rapidly and has attracted much attention worldwide. However, specific preventive and therapeutic interventions are currently lacking.

Imaging anatomy study related to unilateral biportal endoscopic lumbar spine surgery.

Eur Spine J

November 2024

Department of Spine Surgery, Zhujiang Hospital, Southern Medical University, 253 Gongye Road, Guangzhou, 510282, China.

Purpose: To provide lumbar spine anatomical parameters relevant to the UBE technique and explore their intraoperative application.

Methods: CT imaging data processed by Mimics for parametric measurements, including laminar abduction angle (LAA), laminar slope angle (LSA), minimum laminar height (MLH), distance between the inferior margin of the lamina and attachment of the ligamentum flavum onto the cephalad lamina (DLL), distance between the initial point and the middle of the articular process (DIA), and distance from the inferior margin of the lamina to the inferior border of the vertebral body (DLV), and were manually measured.

Results: LAA and DIA gradually increase from L1 to L5.
