Human GATA-6 has been cloned from foetal heart by a combination of PCR-based methods and cDNA library screening. The 3.8 kbp cDNA has a coding sequence of 1347 bp the 449 aa protein is virtually identical in the two zinc-finger binding domains to other human GATA sequences, but varies considerably in the amino and carboxy terminal regions. The sequence shows greatest similarity to GATA-6-like sequences from rat, mouse, chicken and Xenopus. Northern analysis and in situ hybridisation show that GATA-6 is expressed at high levels in human adult and foetal heart as well as in gut derivatives. It is postulated that GATA-6, in concert with GATA-4, plays a crucial role in the regulation of cardiac differentiation.

Postsurgical pericardial adhesions pose increased risks of sequelae, prolonged reoperation time, and reduced visibility in the surgical field. Here, we introduce an injectable Janus hydrogel, which exhibits asymmetric adhesiveness properties after photocrosslinking, sustained delivering induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocyte exosomes (iCM-EXOs) for post-heart surgery adhesion reduction. Our findings reveal that iCM-EXOs effectively attenuate oxidative stress in hydrogen peroxide-treated primary cardiomyocytes by inhibiting the activation of the transcription factor nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2.

Reducing juvenile mortality in cattle is important for both economic and animal welfare reasons. Previous studies have revealed a large variability in mortality rates between breeds and sire progeny groups, with some extreme cases due to dominant mutations causing various syndromes among the descendants of mosaic bulls. The purpose of this study was to monitor sire-family calf mortality within the French and Walloon Holstein populations, and to use this information to detect genetic defects that might have been overlooked by lack of specific symptoms.
