In survival analysis, comparison of survival times between two groups of patients is often the goal. For this purpose, Mantel-Haenszel (or log-rank) test is usually used. This paper introduces a concrete example to illustrate similarities as well as differences among the statistical programs SAS, S-PLUS and STATISTICA, when performing Mantel-Haenszel test.

Background: On June 13, 2020, an explosion involving a liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker truck occurred in eastern China. Fifteen patients with extremely severe burns (referred to as "June 13" patients) were treated in the burn-intensive care unit (ICU) joint ward within the general ICU.
Methods: A multidisciplinary treatment team comprising 129 doctors, 126 nurses, and 165 auxiliary staff members was assembled.

Background: Hospital regionalization involves balancing hospital volume and travel time. We investigated how hospital volume and travel time affect perinatal mortality and the risk of delivery in transit using three different study designs.
Methods: This nationwide cohort study used data from the Medical Birth Registry of Norway (1999-2016) and Statistics Norway.

Background: Severe alcohol-associated hepatitis (AH) is rising in incidence with a high mortality burden. While corticosteroids are recommended for eligible patients with severe AH, no guidance exists for the timing of steroid initiation, tapering regimens, and surveillance of adverse events.
Objective: We aim to systematically review these variables and provide evidence-based recommendations for the inpatient and outpatient management of severe AH.

The balance between mating benefits and costs shapes reproductive strategies and life history traits across animal species. For biological control programs, understanding how mating rates influence life history traits is essential for optimising population management and enhancing predator efficacy. This study investigates the impact of mating opportunity availability, delayed mating, and male mating history (copulation frequency) on the lifespan (both sexes), female reproductive traits (duration of oviposition and of pre- and post-oviposition periods, and lifetime oviposition), and offspring quality (egg size and offspring survival) of the predatory mite Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias-Henriot (Acari: Phytoseiidae), an important biological control agent against spider mites.

Background/Aims: To evaluate invasive treatment outcomes for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients aged over 90 years. Materials and methods: Twenty-six patients were included. Information on backgrounds, course of treatment, outcomes, and changes in Child-Pugh (CP) score and performance status (PS), as well as a comparison of treatment-related complications and 2-year survival after treatment, were retrospectively examined and compared with 311 patients aged under 90 years who were matched under the same conditions.
