Labeled albumin, which was administered intravenously, was detected, with the use of a scintillation counter, in the aortic wall of rabbits. Relative to weight, the permeability index was highest in the aortic arch and abdominal aorta and lowest in the medial thoracic aorta. Angiotensin II and various mediators were found to increase the permeability of the aortic wall.

We demonstrated that the activating transcription factor-3 (Atf3) gene in the PVAT is crucial for improving vascular wall tension abnormalities; however, its protective mechanism remains unclear. Herein, we aim to determine whether ATF3 regulates PVAT-derived relaxing factor (PVDRF) biosynthesis and if its secretion contributes to vasorelaxation.

A 24-day-old female Japanese Black calf presented a sudden paraplegia after a history of watery diarrhea. Antemortem magnetic resonance imaging confirmed the suspicion of thrombotic component in the abdominal aorta, without any spinal cord abnormality at the lumbar region. On necropsy, a massive thrombus occupied the lumen from the distal abdominal aorta to the bifurcation of the external iliac arteries.

Infectious aortitis is an uncommon but potentially fatal condition that can lead to aortic dissection or rupture. We describe a case of a 69-year-old female who developed a Stanford type B aortic dissection, presumptively caused by Salmonella, which was successfully managed with thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair (TEVAR) and long-term antibiotics. A literature review of 17 reported cases from 2000 to 2024 of aortic dissection secondary to infectious aortitis was conducted.

Background: Due to the low contrast between the vascular lumen and vessel wall, conventional computed tomography (CT) is not an effective method for visualizing the vessel wall. The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility of vessel wall visualization using contrast-enhanced dual-energy CT (DECT)-derived water-calcium material decomposition (WMD) and subtraction-based dark-blood imaging (DBI). An additional objective of this study was to determine the association of descending aorta wall thickness (WT) and wall area (WA) with cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors and to ascertain the potential of DECT-derived WT and WA as image markers for identifying individuals at high risk for future CVD.
