The risk of Parkinson's disease (PD) associated with farming has received considerable attention, in particular for pesticide exposure. However, data on PD risk associated with specific farming activities is lacking. We aimed to explore whether specific farming activities exhibited a higher risk of PD than others among the entire French farm manager (FM) population.

spp. and hepatitis E virus (HEV) are significant foodborne zoonotic pathogens that impact the health of livestock, farmers, and the general public. This study aimed to identify biosecurity measures (BSMs) against these pathogens on swine farms in Europe, the United States, and Canada.

Background: Group housing of sows has been extensively studied since the EU banned gestation crating. Well-managed group-housing promotes sow welfare, but the impact varies based on factors such as feeding, group characteristics, and environmental features. Adequate floor space, particularly directly post-mixing, is crucial for social interactions, natural behaviours, and to reduce injuries caused by aggression.

Antimicrobial resistance is considered a global One Health threat. Controlling selection pressure by reducing antibiotic use in livestock is a significant component of the response to this threat. The science concerning use and resistance is complicated and affected by time from antibiotic exposure, changing bacterial fitness, and varies by drug and pathogen.

Both selection and mating systems are essential tools for breeders to conserve the genetic variance and improve the performance of livestock animals. How to effectively balance the genetic gain and inbreeding has always been an important issue in quantitative genetics research. In this study, a total of 11 selection methods, including random and truncation selection, six conventional selection methods, three different optimal contribution selection (OCS) methods and three mating strategies including random mating, minimum-coancestry mating based on pedigree (MCPed) and genomic information (MCmarker), were performed using stochastic simulations.
