An exceptionally rare case of a giant parathyroid adenoma with carcinoma-like presentation.

Hormones (Athens)

January 2025

Endocrine Unit and Diabetes Centre, Department of Clinical Therapeutics, Alexandra Hospital, School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Athens, Greece.

Giant parathyroid adenoma (GPA) is an extremely rare cause of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) and may sometimes mimic parathyroid carcinoma (PC). Parathyroid carcinoma is also a very rare entity. Both preoperative and postoperative diagnosis of the two conditions remains a challenge.

DFNA1 (deafness, nonsyndromic autosomal dominant 1), initially identified as nonsyndromic sensorineural hearing loss, has been associated with an additional symptom: macrothrombocytopenia. However, the timing of the onset of hearing loss (HL) and thrombocytopenia has not been investigated, leaving it unclear which occurs earlier. Here, we generated a knock-in (KI) DFNA1 mouse model, diaphanous-related formin 1 (DIA1), in which Aequorea coerulescens green fluorescent protein (AcGFP)-tagged human DIA1(p.

The precise determination of tobacco leaf maturity is pivotal for safeguarding the taste and quality of tobacco products, augmenting the financial gains of tobacco growers, and propelling the industry's sustainable progression. This research addresses the inherent subjectivity and variability in conventional maturity evaluation techniques reliant on human expertise by introducing an innovative YOLOv10-based method for tobacco leaf maturity detection. This technique facilitates a rapid and non-invasive assessment of leaf maturity, significantly elevating the accuracy and efficiency of tobacco leaf quality evaluation.

Lung cancer is a malignant tumor with high incidence and mortality rates in both men and women worldwide. Although anticancer drugs are prescribed to treat lung cancer patients, individual responses to these drugs vary, making it crucial to identify the most suitable treatment for each patient. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an anticancer drug efficacy prediction model that can analyze drug efficacy before patient treatment and establish personalized treatment strategies.

Therapeutic dose prediction using score-based diffusion model for pretreatment patient-specific quality assurance.

Front Oncol

January 2025

Department of Radiation Oncology, Jiangxi Cancer Hospital & Institute, Jiangxi Clinical Research Center for Cancer, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang Medical College, Nanchang, China.

Objectives: Implementing pre-treatment patient-specific quality assurance (prePSQA) for cancer patients is a necessary but time-consuming task, imposing a significant workload on medical physicists. Currently, the prediction methods used for prePSQA fall under the category of supervised learning, limiting their generalization ability and resulting in poor performance on new data. In the context of this work, the limitation of traditional supervised models was broken by proposing a conditional generation method utilizing unsupervised diffusion model.
