We describe a case of displaced subcapital fracture of the hip in a woman in the third trimester of her first pregnancy. A pathological fracture occurred in a previously painful hip, and radiographs showed pronounced osteopenia of the femoral head and neck. Closed reduction and internal fixation was carried out 2 weeks after delivery when the osteopenia was still severe. Healing of the fracture followed with recovery of hip movements.

Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to compare the outcomes of the Femoral Neck System (FNS) versus cannulated screws (CS) in treating non-displaced subcapital hip fractures from 2020 to 2023 with a minimum follow-up of a year.!* -
  • The research involved 28 patients, with 14 in each treatment group, analyzing demographics and clinical outcomes, finding no significant difference in functional results but noting a much lower complication rate with FNS compared to CS.!* -
  • Ultimately, while both treatments had similar short-term functional success, the FNS showed fewer complications and lower reoperation rates, suggesting it may be a safer choice for this type of fracture.!*

Introduction: Treatment failure remains a challenge in young femoral neck fractures treated with triple cannulated screws (TCS). This study aims to identify novel radiological parameters that can predict treatment failure and propose surgical techniques to enhance the success of TCS or aid in selecting alternative methods.

Patients And Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of 87 patients who underwent surgery for femoral neck fractures between February 2014 and June 2022, meeting the inclusion criteria.

Objectives: Ageing may cause a progressive pro-inflammatory environment and alter functionality of different immune-cell populations. The aim of the present study is to examine the influence of certain serum immunological parameters on hospitalization stay and complications in patients who have suffered a hip fracture.

Patients And Methods: A prospective study was carried out with 87 patients (63 women) presenting with either trochanteric femoral fracture or Garden IV displaced subcapital fracture.

We report two rare cases of femoral neck fracture resulting from osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) that was undiagnosed at the patients' initial visits. The patient in the first case had sequential bilateral displaced femoral neck fractures. Because no osteonecrosis of the femoral head was visible on X-ray film and the data of liver function tests were normal, ONFH was not diagnosed.

Addressing subcapital fractures of the femur poses a substantial clinical challenge, complicated by the diverse range of available osteosynthesis materials. This study is dedicated to a comprehensive analysis of the clinical and radiological implications linked with the implementation of the Femoral Neck System (FNS) in osteosynthesis procedures. A descriptive study was conducted involving patients who underwent osteosynthesis for subcapital fractures of the femur utilizing the FNS during the period from 2019 to 2022.
