Effect of Reaction Interface Structure on the Morphology and Performance of Thin-Film Composite Membrane.

Environ Sci Technol

January 2025

Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Anaerobic Biotechnology, School of Environment and Ecology, Jiangnan University, Wuxi 214122, PR China.

Thin-film composite (TFC) membrane has been extensively utilized and investigated for its excellent properties. Herein, we have constructed an active layer (AL) containing cave-like structures utilizing large meniscus interface. Furthermore, the impact of interface structure on the growth process, morphology, and effective surface area of AL has been fully explored with the assistance of sodium dodecyl benzenesulfonate (SDBS).

A highly electron-rich S,N heteroacene building block is developed and condensed with FIC and Cl-IC acceptors to furnish CT-F and CT-Cl, which exhibit near-infrared (NIR) absorption beyond 1000 nm. The C-shaped CT-F and CT-Cl self-assemble into a highly ordered 3D intermolecular packing network via multiple π-π interactions in the single crystal structures. The CT-F-based organic photovoltaic (OPV) achieved an impressive efficiency of 14.

Viedma deracemization mechanisms in self-assembly processes.

Phys Chem Chem Phys

January 2025

Laboratoire Softmat, UMR au CNRS no 5623, Université Paul Sabatier, F-31062 Toulouse, France.

Simulations on an ODE-based model shows that there are many common points between Viedma deracemization and chiral self-assemblies of achiral building blocks towards chiral nanoparticles. Both systems occur in a closed system with energy exchange but no matter exchange with the surroundings and show parallel reversible growth mechanisms which coexist with an irreversible cluster breaking (grinding). The various mechanisms of growth give rise to the formation of polymerization/depolymerization cycles while the consecutive transformation of achiral monomer into chiral cluster results into an indirect enantioselective autocatalysis.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the application of an innovative extrusion-based 3D food printing (3DFOODP) technique in developing rice protein-starch (RP-S) gel-based products. The effects of 3DFOODP conditions were examined, which included variations in the concentrations of rice protein (RP) and corn starch (S) (15, 17.5, and 20 wt.

Epidemiological pattern of dengue fever in Afghanistan in the period 2021-22.

Eur J Public Health

January 2025

Public Health and Community Medicine Department, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt.

Dengue fever is considered as an emerging disease in Afghanistan. Since the first outbreak was reported in 2019, other outbreaks have been reported in the following years. The current study aims to describe the epidemiological features and clinical manifestations of suspected and confirmed cases of dengue fever detected by the National Disease Surveillance and Response (NDSR) Department of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) during 2021 and 2022 to prevent further spread and minimize its impact on the country's health system and on the limited number of health workers.
