Medical laboratory diagnosis is progressing from one analysis to a group of analysis with rather intricate statistical processing of data via multidimensional analysis, at the same time it is necessary to define a patient's individual normal levels, i.e. a "health certificate". In this regard, the process may be achieved when complex analyzers, which have a reliable metrological support, and systems for collection of both clinical and laboratory information and its simultaneous analysis are put into laboratories' practical work.

Many instrumental quantifications for heavy metals require the establishment of the calibration curve between calibrator's signals and mass concentrations based on linear regression model. However, linear fitting based on the ordinary least squares regression model faces the challenges from the instruments, such as homoscedasticity of signals, which may result in the poor performance for the measurement of low mass concentration. In comparison, the linear weighted regression model in many studies has been proven to better address the problem of heteroscedasticity in inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometer (ICP-OES).

Although the concept of bias appears consolidated in laboratory science, some important changes in its definition and management have occurred since the introduction of metrological traceability theory in laboratory medicine. In the traceability era, medical laboratories should rely on manufacturers who must ensure traceability of their diagnostic medical devices (IVD-MD) to the highest available references, providing bias correction during the trueness transfer process to calibrators before they are marketed. However, sometimes some bias can be observed arising from an insufficient correction during the traceability implementation.

This raises major problems in measuring their characteristics, especially their transfer function. The latter can be measured by optical pattern projection methods using a low F/# objective, such as the spot scan method.

Quartz Crystal Microbalances (QCMs) are versatile sensors employed in various fields, from environmental monitoring to biomedical applications, owing mainly to their very high sensitivity. However, the assessment of their metrological performance, including the impact of conditioning circuits, digital processing algorithms, and working conditions, is a complex and novel area of study. The purpose of this work is to investigate and understand the measurement errors associated with different QCM measurement techniques, specifically focusing on the influence of conditioning electronic circuits.
