Huntington's disease (HD) arises from the abnormal expansion of a CAG repeat in the HTT gene. The mutant CAG repeat triggers aberrant RNA-protein interactions and translates into toxic aggregate-prone polyglutamine protein. These aberrant RNA-protein ineractions also seed the formation of cytoplasmic liquid-like granules, such as stress granules.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an association between increasing posterior tibial slope and meniscal tears in a group of patients with isolated, noncontact and acute ACL ruptures from a large ACL registry.

Methods: Our institution's ACL Registry was consulted to identify patients between the age of 18 and 45 who underwent primary ACL reconstruction between Jan 2019 and July 2022 for acute, noncontact ACL rupture. Patients with pre-existing meniscal pathology, chronic ACL reconstructions, revisions, and multi-ligament knee injuries were excluded.

Automatic pre-screening of outdoor airborne microplastics in micrographs using deep learning.

Airborne microplastics (AMPs) are prevalent in both indoor and outdoor environments, posing potential health risks to humans. Automating the process of spotting them in micrographs can significantly enhance research and monitoring. Although deep learning has shown substantial promise in microplastic analysis, existing studies have primarily focused on high-resolution images of samples collected from marine and freshwater environments.

Mental health problems and influencing factors of parent-child separated children: An umbrella review of meta-analysis.

J Affect Disord

March 2025

School of Psychology, Northeast Normal University, Changchun, China; Jilin Provincial Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Brain Development, Changchun, China. Electronic address:

Background: An increasing number of parents are forced to part with their children due to the pressures of life or unpredictable circumstances. This forced separation often has a devastating effect on children's minds, leading to a range of mental health problems.

Methods: We searched five databases (EBSCO, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure) from inception to November 17, 2023, and performed a systematic analysis using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) 3.

An analytical platform was developed using agarose gel to overcome the issues of device miniaturization and interference effects caused by foreign proteins, which are challenges for field analysis-oriented measurement technology. The lab-on-gel (LoG) device integrates sample preparation, reaction, and detection on a chip, with an agarose gel for separation that preferentially allows only small molecules to pass through due to the size exclusion effect, and an agarose gel for sensing that contains glucose dehydrogenase and substrates. Measurements can be performed simply by dropping in a diluted serum sample and then placing the device in a custom-made compact Raspberry Pi-based fluorescence imager.
