Background: The treatment of status epilepticus (SE) in children with cardiac disease is challenging given their often-tenuous hemodynamic state. We aim to determine whether ketamine is safe and effective in children with cardiac disease as the first-line continuous infusion for the treatment of refractory SE (RSE) and to compare ketamine to midazolam for the treatment of RSE in this population.
Methods: This is a single-center retrospective cohort study of pediatric patients with cardiac disease and RSE admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit at a tertiary children's hospital between January 1, 2017 and June 30, 2023.
Objective: Aim: To investigate the effects of exercise training on heart rate and blood pressure in soccer players of different skill levels.
Patients And Methods: Materials and Methods: 693 soccer players with different sports qualifications were studied. Heart rate (HR) and blood pressure (BP) were measured at rest at the beginning of the preparatory phase of the training cycle.

Spaceflight-induced multi-organ dysfunction affects the health of astronauts and the safety of in-orbit flight. However, the effect of microgravity on the kidney and the underlying mechanisms are unknown. In the current study, we used a hindlimb unweighting (HU) animal model to simulate microgravity and employed histological analysis, ischemia-reperfusion experiments, renal ultrasonography, bioinformatics analysis, isometric force measurement, and other molecular experimental settings to evaluate the effects of microgravity on the kidneys and the underlying mechanisms involved in this transition.

Penetrating head trauma is the most fatal form of head injury. Although many cases of penetrating head trauma have been reported in the literature, its management remains complex, requiring a multidisciplinary team, which makes it a challenge in district hospitals where human resources and technical equipment are limited. We aim to present a successful initial management of a case of penetrating head trauma in a rural district hospital before a transfer to a first category hospital.

Aims: Early identification and management of worsening heart failure (HF) is necessary to prevent disease progression and hospitalizations. The ALLEVIATE-HF (Algorithm Using LINQ Sensors for Evaluation and Treatment of Heart Failure) trial is a prospective, randomized, controlled, double-blind, multicentre trial that aims to assess the safety and efficacy of using the Reveal LINQ™ insertable cardiac monitor (ICM) in patients with HF to continuously monitor and evaluate HF risk status and guide timely interventions.
Methods: The ICM algorithm uses parameters derived from electrocardiogram (atrial fibrillation [AF], ventricular rate during AF, heart rate variability, and night heart rate), three-axis accelerometer (patient activity duration), and subcutaneous bioimpedance (fluid volume, respiration rate).
