Acute kidney injury (AKI) is typically classified as prerenal, renal, or postrenal in etiology, with postrenal often referring to obstructive causes. However, certain uncommon conditions, such as intraperitoneal urinary leaks, may not fit clearly into these categories. In patients with a recent history of pelvic procedure, a complication such as intraperitoneal urinary leak can mimic AKI due to urine reabsorption across the peritoneum.

Introduction: Thymokidneys (TK) have been constructed to transplant life-supporting kidney grafts containing donor thymic tissue to induce transplant tolerance. Historically, TKs were constructed by inserting pieces of thymus tissue under the kidney capsule using an intra-abdominal or posterior retroperitoneal (lateral/flank) approach. The intra-abdominal approach is technically easier but causes intra-abdominal adhesions and makes kidney procurement more challenging.

To investigate the anatomic characteristics of the right retroperitoneal fascia and its surgical implementation while performing complete mesocolic excision (CME) for right colon cancer. A descriptive study was carried out. (1) Clinicopathological data and surgical videos of 17 non-consecutive patients undergoing laparoscopic right hemicolectomy (extended right hemicolectomy) with CME for right colon cancer at Department of Colorectal Surgery of Union Hospital, Fujian Medical University between January 2020 and October 2020 were retrospectively collected.

Background: Treatment of refractory ascites in liver cirrhosis is challenging. Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt and alfapump® have been proposed for the management, but few data comparing both exist.
Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the characteristics and outcomes of patients treated with transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt and alfapump® for refractory ascites at our centre.

Introduction: Among various reported techniques for inferior vena cava (IVC) reconstruction, the superiority of one technique over another has not been clearly established. This study aimed at reporting the technical aspects of caval reconstruction using peritoneal patch during extended liver resections.
Methods: All consecutive patients who underwent extended liver resection associated with anterolateral caval reconstruction using a peritoneal patch from 2016 to 2019 were included in this study.
