Pig production is an agricultural sector of great economic and social relevance to Brazil and global markets. Feed efficiency traits directly influence the sustainability of pig production due to the economic impact of feed costs on the production system and the environmental footprint of the industry. Therefore, breeding for improved feed efficiency has been a target of worldwide pig breeding programs.

Iridium is used in commercial light-emitting devices and in photocatalysis but is among the rarest stable chemical elements. Therefore, replacing iridium(III) in photoactive molecular complexes with abundant metals is of great interest. First-row transition metals generally tend to yield poorer luminescence behavior, and it remains difficult to obtain excited states with redox properties that exceed those of noble-metal-based photocatalysts.

Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNETs) are a heterogeneous group of neoplasms that include tumors with different histomorphologic characteristics that can be correlated to sub-categories with different prognoses. In addition to the WHO grading scheme based on tumor proliferative activity, a new parameter based on the scoring of infiltration patterns at the interface of tumor and non-neoplastic parenchyma (tumor-NNP interface) has recently been proposed for PanNET categorization. Despite the known correlations, these categorizations can still be problematic due to the need for human judgment, which may involve intra- and inter-observer variability.

Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) is recognized as a promiscuous legume in its symbiotic relationships with rhizobia, capable of forming associations with a wide range of bacterial species. Our study focused on assessing the diversity of bacterial strains present in cowpea nodules when inoculated with soils from six indigenous lands of Mato Grosso do Sul state, Central-Western Brazil, comprising the Cerrado and the Pantanal biomes, which are known for their rich diversity. The DNA profiles (BOX-PCR) of 89 strains indicated great genetic diversity, with 20 groups and 23 strains occupying single positions, and all strains grouped at a final similarity level of only 25%.
