Immunoglobulin GM (γ marker) and KM (κ marker) allotypes-encoded by immunoglobulin heavy chain G (IGHG) and immunoglobulin κ constant (IGKC) genes-have been shown to be associated with immune responsiveness to a variety of self and nonself antigens. The aim of the present investigation was to determine whether allelic variation at the GM and KM loci was associated with antibody responsiveness to poly-N-acetyl-D-glucosamine (PNAG), a broadly-conserved surface polysaccharide expressed by many microbial pathogens. In addition, we wished to determine whether Fcγ receptor 2 A (FCGR2A) genotypes, which have been shown to be risk factors for some pathogens, also influenced antibody responses to PNAG.

Delivery of an mRNA formulated with lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) induces robust humoral and cell-mediated branches of the immune response. Depending on the LNP formula, mRNA encoding proteins can be detected in the liver upon intramuscular administration of mRNA/LNP in mice. This study investigated the impact of mRNA/LNP administration on liver-associated macrophages at the transcriptomic and epigenetic levels in a mouse model.

Unlabelled: mRNA vaccines represent a milestone in the history of vaccinology, because they are safe, very effective, quick and cost-effective to produce, easy to adapt should the antigen vary, and able to induce humoral and cellular immunity.
Methods: To date, only two COVID-19 mRNA and one RSV vaccines have been approved. However, several mRNA vaccines are currently under development for the prevention of human viral (influenza, human immunodeficiency virus [HIV], Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, Zika, respiratory syncytial virus, metapneumovirus/parainfluenza 3, Chikungunya, Nipah, rabies, varicella zoster virus, and herpes simplex virus 1 and 2), bacterial (tuberculosis), and parasitic (malaria) diseases.

Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a multifactorial disease, and the risk of contracting infection is determined by the complex interplays between environmental and host-related factors. While research has shown that certain individuals may have a genetic predisposition for PJI, the existing literature is scarce, and the heterogeneity in the assessed genes limits its clinical applicability. Our review on genetic susceptibility for PJI has the following two objectives: (1) Explore the potential risk of developing PJI based on specific genetic polymorphisms or allelic variations; and (2) Characterize the regulatory cascades involved in the risk of developing PJI.

Background: The humoral immune response against human papillomavirus (HPV) has been suggested as a source of biomarkers for the early detection of cervical cancer (CC). Therefore, we aimed to characterize the antibody response against HPV16 E5 in the natural history of cervical cancer and to determine its usefulness as a biomarker of HPV-associated cervical lesions.
Methods: This study was conducted at the Cuautla General Hospital, Morelos, Mexico, with women (18 to 64 years) who agreed to participate.
