Opisthorchis somatic, metabolic, and tegumental antigens were studied by using immunoblotting. It was shown that among several antigenic components, only the somatic protein with a molecular weight of about 100 kD failed to react with noninvased human sera.

Prevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato infection in the Czech Republic.

Int J Med Microbiol

January 2025

Global Vaccines, and Anti-infectives Medical Affairs, Pfizer Inc., 1 Portland Street, Cambridge, MA 02139, USA. Electronic address:

Introduction: Lyme borreliosis (LB), an infection caused by Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (Bbsl), is the most common tick-borne disease in Europe. To further characterize the LB burden in the Czech Republic, we conducted a seroprevalence study and estimated the incidence of symptomatic Bbsl infections.

Methods: Anti-Bbsl IgM and IgG antibodies were detected in sera collected from the adult population in 2011 -2012 by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and immunoblot tests at the National Reference Laboratory.

Acute liver failure (ALF) is a life-threatening condition that occurs when the liver sustains severe damage and rapidly loses its function. The primary cause of ALF is the overdose of acetaminophen (APAP), and its treatment is relatively limited. The involvement of the complement system in the development of ALF has been implicated.

Department of Neonatology, Shenzhen People's Hospital (The Second Clinical Medical College, Jinan University; The First Affiliated Hospital, Southern University of Science and Technology), Shenzhen, 518020, Guangdong, China.

Purpose: This study aims to elucidate the roles of the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway and enterocyte apoptosis in necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) pathogenesis and investigate the impact of vitamin A intervention on these factors.

Methods: We employed an NEC mouse model and administered vitamin A treatment. Retinol levels in mouse blood were quantified using ELISA.

Cell-to-cell communications are desirable for efficient functioning in endocrine cells. Gap junctions and paracrine factors are major mechanisms by which neighboring endocrine cells communicate with each other. The current experiment was undertaken to morphologically examine gap junction expression and developmental changes in rat adrenal medullary chromaffin (AMC) cells.

Chondrocytes are commonly applied in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. Thus, the discovery of optimal culture conditions to obtain cells with good properties and behavior for transplantation is important. In addition to biochemical cues, physical and biomechanical changes can affect the proliferation and protein expression of chondrocytes.
