BstAPI, an ApaBI isoschizomer, cleaves DNA at 5'-GCANNNN NTGC-3'.

Nucleic Acids Res

SibEnzyme, 8 Lavrentiev Str., Novosibirsk 630090, Russia.

Published: June 1997

Cleavage positions of Bst API, a new restriction endonuclease (ENase) that recognizes palindromic interrupted DNA sequence, have been determined. Recognition sequences and cleavage sites comparison shows that Bst API shares similarity with a number of type II restriction enzymes.

Interfaces, such as grain boundaries and phase boundaries in thermoelectric (TE) materials, play a crucial role in the carrier/phonon transport. Accurate control of the features of interfaces, including composition, crystalline nature, and thickness may give rise to a promising pathway to break the trade-off between phonon and carrier transport properties, which is essential to design high-performance TE materials. In this work, the amorphous polymer interface (API) layer is introduced to the -type commercial BiSbTe (BST) TE material by the liquid-phase sintering process.

Article Synopsis
  • Hymenoptera venom (HV), injected by bees and wasps during stings, can cause allergic reactions in about 3% of people, leading to severe local or systemic allergic reactions in some cases.
  • The guidelines suggest that while symptomatic therapy is needed after a severe local reaction, specific allergen immunotherapy isn't necessary unless severe reactions occur beyond the skin.
  • Clinicians should assess patients for risk factors, measure tryptase levels if reactions are significant, and test for specific IgE antibodies to diagnose sensitization to Hymenoptera venom.

A PCR-mutagenesis strategy for rapid detection of mutations in codon 634 of the ret proto-oncogene related to MEN 2A.

BMC Med Genet

Laboratorio de Biología Celular y Molecular, IHEM (UNCuyo-CONICET), Facultad de Ciencias Médicas, Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina.

Background: Multiple endocrine neoplasias type 2A (MEN 2A) is a dominantly inherited cancer syndrome. Missence mutations in the codon encoding cysteine 634 of the ret proto-oncogene have been found in 85% of the MEN 2A families. The main tumour type always present in MEN 2A is medullar thyroid carcinoma (MTC).
