Common air pollutants (O3, SO2) exert their deleterious effects in several ways, mostly on the respiratory functions. Ozone causes formation of peroxides and aldehydes with subsequent release of inflammatory lipids and cytokines. Changes in the activity of neutral endopeptidase and release of neuropeptides may occur. As a result, bronchial hyperreactivity can be detected. In the mechanisms of the disturbances due to sulfur dioxide, cholinergic mechanisms and release of neuropeptides may be involved.

The current lack of stable, scalable, and efficient coating technology dramatically limits the exploitation of solar-driven graphitic carbon nitride (CN) photocatalysts. Herein, a unique, efficient, and scalable method is reported to immobilize CN powder on various substrates ranging from Fluorine tin oxide (FTO), glass, Plexiglas, Al foil, Ti foil, and Granite stone, to even wood. The film shows an outstanding thickness of 212 µm, which is the highest value ever reported.

Environmental and human health is severely threatened by wastewater and air pollution, which contain a broad spectrum of organic and inorganic pollutants. Organic contaminants include dyes, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), medical waste, antibiotics, pesticides, and chemical warfare agents. Inorganic gases such as CO, SO, and NO are commonly found in polluted water and air.

Medical gases were primarily used for respiratory therapy and anesthesia, which showed promising potential in the cancer therapy. Several physiological and pathological processes were affected by the key gases, such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitric oxide, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon monoxide. Oxygen targets shrinking the tumor via hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and once combined with radiation therapy it enhances its effect.

Improper and unscientific management of municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill sites has increasingly become a pressing environmental issue especially in the mountainous regions worldwide. In view of this, an attempt was made to assess the detrimental effects of MSW landfill on the natural water sources at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Further, the suitability of potential landfill site and dispersion of pollutant air masses were stipulated using Arc GIS and HYSPLIT model.

Industrial production of hydrogen peroxide (HO) is energy-intensive and generates unwanted byproducts. Herein, an alternative production strategies of HO are demonstrated in a Zn-air and a photoelectrochemical cell. Employing an optimally produced reduced graphene oxide (rGO) electrocatalyst@air-cathode, an impressive power density of 320 Wm (geo = geometric area) is achieved along with a high HO production rate of 3.
