Time spent on activities that can be delegated and reasons for not delegating among acute care nurses: A mixed-methods study.

Aim: To describe the activities nurses perceived to be delegable to other staff (delegable activities) in order to estimate the time nurses spend on delegable activities and explore nurses' reasons for not delegating these activities.
Design: Mixed-methods explanatory sequential.
Methods: In total, 236 nurses from 27 medical and surgical wards of five hospitals in northern Italy completed a web-based survey during a single shift between June and July 2022.
Many youth with acute and chronic health conditions require medication to be administered during the school day. This policy statement offers guidance to school physicians, community prescribers, school nurses, other school health professionals, and groups providing oversight to school health activities and ensures patient safety and equity lenses are applied to administration of medications during school and for school-related activities. The American Academy of Pediatrics supports a robust collaborative model that allows all those involved in student health, including the student and family, to communicate, participate in effective medication management, inform delegated medication responsibilities, and promote safe medication storage and administration.

Background: In India, orderlies are unlicensed hospital assistants instructed to perform delegated tasks under supervision by a licensed health-care giver. They receive on-the-job training, unlike certified nursing assistants. In this study, we have integrated a simulation session in our hospital orderly training program to promote the safe transfer of patients using a low-fidelity mannequin.

Objective: Nurse turnover can compromise the quality and continuity of home health care. Scope of practice laws, which determine the tasks nurses are allowed to perform and delegate, are an important element of autonomy and vary across states. In this study, we used human resource records from a multistate home health organization to examine the relationship between nurse turnover and whether nurses can delegate tasks to unlicensed aides.
