Under the background of the main epidemic HIV strains (CRF01_AE and CRF07_BC) co-circulation in China, more HIV second-generation recombinant (SGR) strains with CRF01_AE and CRF07_BC as the backbone were also emerging. In this study, we characterize a novel HIV-1 second-generation circulating recombinant form (CRF117_0107) consisting of CRF01_AE and CRF07_BC fragments from three epidemiologically unrelated HIV-1-infected individuals. One near full-length genome (NFLG) sequence was amplified, sequenced, and spliced in two halves using RNA extracted from the plasma of a homosexual in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.

This study focuses on HIV-1-infected women of childbearing age in Liangshan Prefecture and analyses their HIV-1 RNA and HIV-1 DNA genotypic drug resistance to provide a theoretical basis and technical support for monitoring the spread of resistant strains and formulating and optimizing antiretroviral therapy regimens. The study subjects were HIV-1-infected women of childbearing age who were followed up in the county of Liangshan Prefecture from January to September 2023. Peripheral venous blood samples were collected from each subject.

During the past decade (and beyond), neurologists have become aware of the emergence, persistence, and consequences of some familiar and new infections affecting the nervous system. Even among the familiar CNS infections, such as herpes virus, polyoma virus/JC, influenza, arbovirus, and hepatitis, challenges remain in developing effective antiviral treatments and treatments of postinfection sequelae. With the changing environment and increased global travel, arthropod vectors that mediate zoonotic disease transmission have spread unfamiliar viruses such as West Nile virus, dengue, chikungunya, equine encephalitis, and Zika, among others.

The spread of different subtypes in the same population often leads to the emergence of circulating recombinant forms (CRFs) and unique recombinant forms (URFs). At present, the main recombinant subtypes of HIV-1 in China originate from CRF07_BC, CRF01_AE, CRF55_01B and subtype B.

The replication fates of these RNAs di\er, with viral particles encapsidating almost exclusively 1G RNAs and 3G RNAs retained in cells where they are enriched on polysomes and among spliced viral RNAs. Here, we studied replication properties of virus promoter mutants that produced only one RNA 5' isoform or the other: separately, in combination, and during spreading infection.
