The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is responsible for causing the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak. While mutations cause the emergence of new variants, the ancestral SARS-CoV-2 strain is unique among other strains. Various clinical parameters, the activity of cathepsin proteases, and the concentration of various proteins were measured in urine samples from COVID-19-negative participants and COVID-19-positive participants.

Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) is a progressive vascular condition characterized by venous hypertension and chronic inflammation, leading to significant clinical and socioeconomic impacts. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of emerging pharmacological interventions for CVI, focusing on clinical outcomes such as pain, edema, cutaneous blood flow, and quality of life. Eligible interventions comprised new vasoprotective drugs, such as hydroxyethylrutoside, Pycnogenol, aminaphthone, coumarin + troxerutin, and Venoruton, compared to the standard therapy of diosmin and hesperidin.

Neurogenic orthostatic hypotension (NOH) is a significant non-motor manifestation of Parkinson's disease (PD), that substantially affects patient disability and has a powerful impact on the quality of life of PD patients, while also contributing to increased healthcare costs. This narrative review aims to summarize key insights into the diagnosis and management of NOH in individuals with PD. For diagnosing NOH, a recently introduced and valuable metric is the ΔHr/ΔSBP index.

Patients on chronic anticoagulation undergoing metabolic surgery represent an increased risk of complications, including both bleeding and thrombotic events, such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). The optimal perioperative management of patients who are receiving chronic anticoagulation therapy (CAT) is complex. In the colorectal surgery literature, patients on CAT have a 10% rate of peri-procedural bleeding and a 3% rate of thromboembolism.
