ECT is an effective and rapidly acting treatment for certain major psychiatric disorders, even in patients with neurologic illness. Further, in some cases the neurologic illness itself also responds to ECT. Patients with some types of neurologic illness may be at increased risk of neurologic or cognitive side effects from ECT, but these risks can be lowered by careful pre-ECT evaluation and optimal ECT technique.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a powerful tool to identify the structural and functional correlates of neurological illness but provides limited insight into molecular neurobiology. Using rat genetic models of autism spectrum disorder, we show that image texture-processed neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging (NODDI) diffusion MRI possesses an intrinsic relationship with gene expression that corresponds to the biophysically modeled cellular compartments of the NODDI diffusion signal. Specifically, we demonstrate that neurite density index and orientation dispersion index signals are correlated with intracellular and extracellular gene expression, respectively.

The current DSM-oriented diagnostic paradigm has introduced the issue of heterogeneity, as it fails to account for the identification of the neurological processes underlying mental illnesses, which affects the precision of treatment. The Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) framework serves as a recognized approach to addressing this heterogeneity, and several assessment and translation techniques have been proposed. Among these methods, transforming RDoC scores from electronic medical records (EMR) using Natural Language Processing (NLP) has emerged as a suitable technique, demonstrating clinical effectiveness.

Pediatric emergency, Hôpital Nord, chemin des Bourrelly 13015 Marseille, France. Electronic address:

Objective: The management of a child presenting with a critical medical or surgical condition is a scarce event in the pediatric emergency department (PED). In this one year retrospective study, we have tried to better characterize the profile and care pathway of children who had been transferred to the neonatal or pediatric intensive care or critical care units (PICCU) after a visit to the PED, or died in PED.

Methods: Retrospective study of children who has been transferred to PICCU from the two PED of Marseille's University Hospital from the 1 of January 2022 until the 31 of December 2022.
