Nerve Regeneration after a Nerve Graft in a Rat Model: The Effectiveness of Fibrin Glue.

J Pers Med

April 2024

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Precision Medicine in Medical, Surgical and Critical Care, University of Palermo, Via del Vespro 129, 90127 Palermo, Italy.

Background: Simulating the post-traumatic continuity defect of small human peripheral nerves, we compared the effectiveness of fibrin glue with neurorrhaphy for nerve gap restoration.

Methods: In twenty-four male Wistar rats, a fifteen mm defect in one sciatic nerve only was made and immediately repaired with an inverted polarity autograft. According to the used technique, rats were divided into Group A (Control), using traditional neurorrhaphy, and Group B (Study), using fibrine glue sealing; in total, 50% of rats were sacrificed at 16 weeks and 50% at 21 weeks.

Introduction: Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a leading cause of worldwide disability, and standard clinical treatments have limitations due to the absence of neurological evidence. Electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring is an effective method for recording neural activities and can provide electroneurophysiological evidence of MDD.

Methods: In this work, we proposed a probabilistic graphical model for neural dynamics decoding on MDD patients and healthy controls (HC), utilizing the Hidden Markov Model with Multivariate Autoregressive observation (HMM-MAR).

Background: Migraine is common in primary headaches, and with the development of social economy and the increase in living pressure, the prevalence of migraine has an upward trend.

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of flunarizine combined with duloxetine in the treatment of chronic migraine with comorbid depression and anxiety disorders and to provide a reference for clinical treatment.

Methods: A total of 118 patients with chronic migraine complicated with depression and anxiety disorder admitted to our hospital from June 2018 to August 2020 were selected and divided into two groups according to treatment methods, 59 cases in each group.

This study investigated the applicability of high-frequency ultrasound (HFU) to the early diagnosis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Patients with type 2 diabetes ( = 60) were divided into diabetic nonperipheral neuropathy and DPN groups (group A and group B, respectively; = 30 each) based on electroneurophysiologic findings. Additionally, 30 nondiabetic patients were included as the healthy control group (group C).
