Power spectrum analysis of myoelectric signals has been used to measure the propagation velocity in a large number of voluntary action potentials in biceps and brachioradialis muscles of normal children, 0-20 years old. The method used can be applied to both single motor units signals and interference electromyogram. From measurements of single motor units, the distribution of potential velocities in the muscle can be obtained, which makes conclusive statements on the development of the velocity during childhood more reliable. The propagation velocities are found to increase with age, body height, and muscle diameter. The dependencies on these size parameters are close to that of the square root function, in accordance with electrophysical theory.

Phonon dynamics and transport determine how heat is utilized and dissipated in materials. In 2D systems for optoelectronics and thermoelectrics, the impact of nanoscale material structure on phonon propagation is central to controlling thermal conduction. Here, we directly observe in-plane coherent acoustic phonon propagation in black phosphorus (BP) using ultrafast electron microscopy.

Understanding and deciphering wiggles from seismograms has been a long endeavor to understand the internal structure of the Earth and to explore earthquake source properties. Here, we make an attempt to decipher the continuous rupture phases as large near-fault velocity pulses along the East Anatolian Fault in the 2023 moment magnitude () 7.8 Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye, earthquake.

Hypothesis: Viscous fingering instabilities of air displacing water displacing mineral oil is controlled by the air injection rate. Given the lower viscosity of the water, air would tend to finger through the water and then after it reaches the oil, proceed to finger through the oil.
Experiments: In a radial Hele-Shaw cell, experiments were conducted on air injection into mineral oil and air injection into a volume of water at the center of the cell which in turn is surrounded by mineral oil.

Recent experiments have shown that exciton transport can be significantly enhanced through hybridization with confined photonic modes in a cavity. The light-matter hybridization generates exciton-polariton (EP) bands, whose group velocity is significantly larger than the excitons. Dissipative mechanisms that affect the constituent states of EPs, such as exciton-phonon coupling and cavity loss, have been observed to reduce the group velocities in experiments.

The Weberian apparatus is a hearing specialization unique to the otophysan fishes, and an unexpected degree of morphological variation exists in species of the Noturus catfishes. Our aim in this study is to investigate relationships between morphological variations and ecology that may drive this variation. Sampling 48 specimens representing 25 species, we investigated morphological diversity and accounted for ecological variables using landmark-based 3D geometric morphometrics and x-ray-based computed tomography (CT) images.
