Oxidized cellulose (Surgicel) has been used as a haemostatic agent in neurosurgery for five decades. Complications have been few. Two cases are reported of granulomatous reaction to oxidised cellulose two months and twelve months after removal of intracranial meningiomas. Both appeared as contrast enhancing space occupying lesions on CT scan and were taken for recurrence of the tumour.

Activated carbon is extensively utilized in blood purification applications. However, its performance has been significantly limited by their poor blood compatibility. In this work, 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyl-1-oxyl (TEMPO)-oxidized cellulose nanofibers (TOCN) and activated carbon (AC) were used to form composite beads by the drop curing method to improve hemocompatibility.

In recent years, conductive gel materials have attracted extensive attention in the field of flexible electronics because of their excellent elasticity. When constructed as gel fibers, they can adapt to greater deformation, be woven, and be assembled with fabrics to make wearable smart devices without compromising comfort. However, gel fibers reported often exhibit insufficient mechanical properties and poor adaptability to different environment.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of two absorbable hemostatic agents, oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) and gelatin sponge, on wound healing in a rat model of penile fracture.
Materials And Methods: A total of 32 Wistar albino rats were divided into four groups: Control (C), Primary Suturing (PS), ORC, and Gelatin Sponge (GS). A penile fracture model was created in all rats, and wound healing was assessed histopathologically after two weeks.

Articular cartilage has a limited self-healing capacity, leading to joint degeneration and osteoarthritis over time. Therefore, bioactive scaffolds are gaining attention as a promising approach to regenerating and repairing damaged articular cartilage through tissue engineering. In this study, we reported on a novel 3D bio-printed proteinaceous bioactive scaffolds combined with natural porcine cancellous bone dECM, tempo-oxidized cellulose nanofiber (TOCN), and alginate carriers for TGF-β1, FGF-18, and ADSCs to repair cartilage defects.

Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) have emerged as promising, sustainable materials, with applications in sensors, coatings, pharmaceuticals, and composites. Their modification with block copolymers such as PEO-PPO-PEO triblock copolymers of the Pluronic family has been attempted many times in the literature, with claims that such modification would happen by an anchor(PEO)-buoy(PPO)-anchor(PEO) mechanism. However, there is much disagreement in the literature on this.
