Rationale And Objectives: The authors conduct technical feasibility and performance studies on a new 0.009-inch nitinol microguidewire for potential neuroendovascular applications.
Methods: In vivo microcatheterizations of brachiocephalic arteries were performed in four pigs using the 0.009-inch nitinol microguidewire with a commonly used microcatheter and compared with the performance of commercially available microguidewires. Vessels catheterized using the 0.009-inch wire were evaluated by histopathological analysis. A standardized, bench-top method of evaluating basic mechanical properties of microguidewires also was used to compare the 0.009-inch nitinol microguidewire with two commonly used microguidewires.
Results: The 0.009-inch microguidewire had similar steerability, tractability, torque control, and distal tip flexibility to the commonly used microguidewires in the in vivo simulations. Bench top testing showed the 0.009-inch microguidewire to have comparable distal tip flexibility and objective mechanical properties to the commonly used microguidewires.
Conclusions: The comparable subjective and objective mechanical properties of the 0.009-inch nitinol microguidewire to that of commonly used microguidewires further establishes the possibility of clinical implementation.

Orthopedic screws are widely used to achieve bone reduction, compression, and construct stability. However, the relationship between insertion torque, interfragmentary compression, and fixation strength, especially when comparing standard screws with NiTiNOL/sustained dynamic compression (SDC), has not been thoroughly investigated. This study measured insertion torque, interfragmentary compression, and fixation strength for two types of headed orthopedic devices-standard and SDC-using solid foam bone replicates and cadaver validation.

Objectives: Prediction of in-stent restenosis (ISR) is clinically important for patients with peripheral artery disease in their superficial femoral arteries (SFA) who have been treated with stenting. The aim of this study was to construct and validate a predictive model for ISR after SFA stenting based on a series of clinical and ultrasonic parameters.
Methods: This retrospective study included 381 patients who were treated with self-expanding bare nitinol stents in their SFA at our hospital between January 1, 2018, and January 1, 2022.

The increasing age of patients with end-stage renal disease raises the issue of hostile arterial access for transplantation, with technical difficulties associated with clamping and suturing the iliac artery. Some of these patients - who theoretically represent those who would benefit the most from transplantation in terms of mortality - are contraindicated because of anatomical and medical issues. In this context, a specific endovascular device called EndoPreKiT (Endovascular Preparation for Kidney Transplantation) has been designed, enabling arterial access for transplantation via a mini-invasive procedure.

Percutaneous pancreatic core biopsy is conclusive but challenging due to large-diameter needles, while smaller-diameter needles used in aspiration methods suffer from buckling and clogging. Inspired by the ovipositor of parasitic wasps, which resists buckling through self-propulsion and prevents clogging via friction-based transport, research has led to the integration of these functionalities into multi-segment needle designs or tissue transport system designs. This study aimed to combine these wasp-inspired functionalities into a single biopsy needle by changing the interconnection of the needle segments.
