Background: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are essential components of the tumor microenvironment and play a critical role in cancer progression. Numerous studies have identified significant molecular differences between CAFs and normal tissue-associated fibroblasts (NAFs). In this study, we isolated CAFs and NAFs from liver tumors and conducted a comprehensive analysis of their DNA methylation profiles, integrating our finding with data from studies on other cancer types.

Surgical resection is the primary treatment approach for patients with breast cancer. Despite optimal multimodal treatment, metastatic recurrence remains a risk. Surgery-mediated systemic inflammation and local tissue inflammation generate an immunosuppressive and wound-healing environment that may accelerate cancer recurrence and metastasis post-operatively.

Adrenal tumors, such as adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), adrenocortical adenoma (ACA), and pheochromocytoma (PCC) are complex diseases with unclear causes and treatments. Mitochondria and mitochondrial-derived peptides (MDPs) are crucial for cancer cell survival. The primary aim of this study was to analyze samples from different adrenal diseases, adrenocortical carcinoma, adrenocortical adenoma, and pheochromocytoma, and compare them with normal adrenal tissue to determine whether the expression levels of the mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12S rRNA type-c (MOTS-c) gene and protein vary between different types of adrenal tumors compared to healthy controls using qPCR, ELISA, and IHC methods.

Visceral white adipose tissues (WAT) regulate systemic lipid metabolism and inflammation. Dysfunctional WAT drive chronic inflammation and facilitate atherosclerosis. Adipose tissue-associated macrophages (ATM) are the predominant immune cells in WAT, but their heterogeneity and phenotypes are poorly defined during atherogenesis.
