Background: Many military physicians interrupt their training to serve in the position of general medical officer (GMO) after completing their first year of postgraduate medical education. This study compares American Board of Family Practice In-training Examination (ITE) scores of military family practice residents who received continuous training (CFP residents) with those who did GMO tours (GMO residents).
Methods: Historical cohorts of CFP and GMO residents from Army and Navy family practice residencies were compared. The dependent measures were their ITE scores in each year of training. Paired data were analyzed using the Student's test.
Results: There were no significant differences in composite or clinical problem set scores between GMO and CFP resident groups. Power to detect a true difference between the groups was 74.
Conclusions: Interruption in residency training is not associated with a significant change in the returning resident's ITE scores.

Background: Non-adherence to medication remains a persistent and significant challenge, with profound implications for patient outcomes and the long-term sustainability of healthcare systems. Two decades ago, the World Health Organization (WHO) dedicated its seminal report to adherence to long-term therapies, catalysing notable changes that advanced both research and practice in medication adherence. The aim of this paper was to identify the most important progress made over the last 2 decades in medication adherence management and to initiate a discussion on future objectives, suggesting priority targets for the next 20 years.

Introduction: Our recent meta-analyses have demonstrated that high-intensity interval training (HIIT) causes a range of mean changes in various measures and predictors of endurance and sprint performance in athletes. Here, we extend the analyses to relationships between mean changes of these measures and consider implications for understanding and improving HIIT that were not apparent in the previous analyses.
Methods: The data were mean changes from HIIT with highly trained endurance and elite other (mainly team sport) athletes in studies where two or more measures or predictors of performance were available.

In 2022, a community-academic collaborative team published 5 key recommendations for developing a national action plan to advance the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of women living with HIV in Canada. In 2023, a national gathering was convened to strategize implementation of the recommendations across policy, practice, and research settings. Discussions highlighted that meaningful engagement of women living with HIV (recommendation 1) is foundational to implementing the other recommendations.
