Background: Despite an abundance of literature on degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM), little is known about preoperative expectations of these patients.
Purpose: The primary objective was to describe patient preoperative expectations. Secondary objectives included identifying patient characteristics associated with high preoperative expectations and to determine if expectations varied depending on myelopathy severity.

Background: Mitigation strategies were implemented during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic that slowed the spread of this virus and other respiratory viruses. The objective of this study is to assess the impact of COVID-19 mitigation strategies on the medical services that children less than 1 year of age with acute bronchiolitis required (emergency department services, hospitalization, critical care services, and mechanical ventilation).
Methods: This was a retrospective observational cohort study utilizing TriNetX ® electronic health record (EHR) data.

Utilizing a target repurposing and parasite-hopping approach, we tested a previously reported library of compounds that were active against , plus 31 new compounds, against a variety of protozoan parasites including , , and . This led to the discovery of several compounds with submicromolar activities and improved physicochemical properties that are early leads toward the development of chemotherapeutic agents against kinetoplastid diseases and malaria.

Lapatinib, an approved epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor, was explored as a starting point for the synthesis of new hits against Trypanosoma brucei, the causative agent of human African trypanosomiasis (HAT). Previous work culminated in 1 (NEU-1953), which was part of a series typically associated with poor aqueous solubility. In this report, we present various medicinal chemistry strategies that were used to increase the aqueous solubility and improve the physicochemical profile without sacrificing antitrypanosomal potency.
