Allele and genotype frequencies of the loci LDLR, GYPA, HBGG, D7S8 and GC (PM loci) were investigated in a population sample of 215 unrelated individuals from Asturias (North Spain). Multiplex amplification and simultaneous typing of the five loci was carried out using the polymarker PCR amplification and typing kit. All loci met Hardy-Weinberg expectations. The Asturian sample does not differ significantly from other Caucasians, but significant differences were observed between this population and SW Hispanic, Afro-american and Korean populations.

Genetic admixture of eight Mexican indigenous populations: based on five polymarker, HLA-DQA1, ABO, and RH loci.

Am J Hum Biol

January 2009

Instituto de Investigaciones Antropológicas, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico, Mexico District Federal, Mexico.

This study explores the genetic admixture of eight Mexican indigenous populations (Otomi-Ixmiquilpan, Otomi-Actopan, Tzeltales, Nahua-Milpa-Alta, Nahua-Xochimilco, Nahua-Zitlala, Nahua-Ixhuatlancillo, and Nahua-Coyolillo) on the basis of five PCR-based polymorphic DNA loci (LDLR, GYPA, HBGG, D7S8, GC), HLA_DQA1, and the blood groups ABO and Rh (CcDEe). Among the indigenous populations, the highest gene frequencies for O and D were 0.9703 and 1.

Genetic structure and affinity among eight ethnic populations of Eastern India: based on 22 polymorphic DNA loci.

Am J Hum Biol

August 2004

DNA Typing Unit, Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Calcutta, W. Bengal, India.

The nature and extent of genetic variation at 22 polymorphic DNA loci, belonging to three distinct classes, especially, 12 STR loci (D3S1358, vWA, FGA, D5S818, D13S317, D7S820, D8S1179, D21S11, D18S51, HPRTB, F13B, LPL), four VNTR loci (D1S7, D4S139, D5S110, D17S79), and six coding loci (HLDQA1, LDLR, GYPA, HBGG, D7S8, GC) were investigated among eight population groups of West Bengal and Manipur regions of India. Of these, two groups from West Bengal belong to Caucasoid and six (one in WB and five in Manipur) belong to Mongoloid stock. Both STR and the expressed loci show wide diversity among the eight populations.

In the paper the authors present results of the postmortem examination of the burnt body of an unidentified young man NN, who was suspected of being kidnapped, held in custody and finally burnt. During the autopsy dental identification was carried out and its results were compared to the dental card of the chosen man. Toxicological examinations of alcohol, CO, drugs and medicines were negative.
