Silver nanowire (Ag NW)/gold nanosphere (Au NS) binary plasma films were prepared using plasma coupling between Ag NWs and Au NSs. The plasma films formed by combining these two noble metals showed better sensitivity for SERS detection with a minimum detection concentration of 10 M for R6G compared to pure Ag NWs or Au NSs. After rational optimisation of the substrate preparation process, the substrate showed good homogeneity, reproducibility and stability.

Core-shell composite microspheres are increasingly favored for the development of stationary phases due to their ability to integrate the monodispersity of inner core with the functional versatility of outer shell. In this study, poly(styrene-divinylbenzene)@(tris(4-aminophenyl)amine-p-phthalaldehyde-triethylenetetramine) (PS-DVB@TAPA-PPA-TETA) core-shell composite microspheres were constructed via an amine-aldehyde condensation reaction. The resultant microspheres were subsequently quaternized using the residual amine groups of TETA in the shell to create an effective anion-exchange stationary phase.

This research aimed to develop a desolvation and 1,2-benzenedialdehyde crosslinking method to prepare crosslinked gelatin substances for emulsion stabilization. The oligo-gelatin conjugates and poly-gelatin nanoparticles could be formed at the 1,2-benzenedialdehyde concentration of 50 g/L and ≥ 150 g/L, respectively. The formation mechanism involved intra/inter-molecular amine-benzenedialdehyde-thiol and amine-benzenedialdehyde-amine crosslinking reactions.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTriptycene derivatives are used extensively in supramolecular and materials chemistry, however, most are prepared using a multi-step synthesis involving the generation of a benzyne intermediate, which hinders production on a large scale. Inspired by the ease of the synthesis of resorcinarenes, we report the rapid and efficient preparation of triptycene-like 1,6,2',7'-tetrahydroxynaphthopleiadene directly from 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene and phthalaldehyde. Structural characterisation confirms the novel bridged bicyclic framework, within which the planes of the single benzene ring and two naphthalene units are fixed at an angle of ∼120° relative to each other.
