The plasmid-borne resistance gene mcr drastically undermines the effectiveness of colistin, posing a substantial threat to public health. Although several key plasmid elements that balance mcr-1 persistence and bacterial growth are identified, the regulatory interactions between mcr-1 and host bacteria remain poorly understood. Using a genome-wide CRISPRi crRNA library, it is identified that DNA polymerase IV, dinB, is essential for controlling the fitness cost associated with mcr-1 in Escherichia coli.

Ghost fishing, the phenomenon of abandoned, lost, or discarded fishing gear (ALDFG) that continues to trap and kill marine life, represents a significant environmental and economic threat to marine ecosystems and fisheries worldwide. This review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of ghost fishing, examining its direct and indirect impacts on the marine environment and exploring the strategies employed to mitigate its effects. A total of 627 records from academic journals, government publications, research articles, and relevant online databases were screened using approved search engines.

Objectives: Discrimination poses a threat to the mental health of university students, especially those affected by social inequality, yet understanding its intersectional impact remains limited. This study examines the intersection of social inequalities with perceived discrimination to explore differences in mental health among students in Germany.
Methods: Data from the cross-sectional project "Survey on study conditions and mental health of university students" (n = 14,592) were analysed using Multilevel Analysis of Individual Heterogeneity and Discriminatory Accuracy (MAIHDA).

Salmonella is an important foodborne pathogen that poses a significant threat to food safety. This study aims to assess the prevalence, genomic features, and colistin-resistant mechanisms of Salmonella isolates collected from 118 retail pork samples from January 2021 to January 2022 in Shanghai, China. Overall, 46 (39.

Background: Microaggressions are pervasive in clinical and academic environments, often unnoticed by those unaware of the privileges and power dynamics tied to socially constructed hierarchies. These subtle manifestations of bias and prejudice are typically directed toward historically marginalized individuals and groups (HMIGs), contributing to a toxic culture that undermines interprofessional communication, collaboration, and healthcare delivery.
Purpose: This article aims to explore the concept of microaggressions and their impact on healthcare environments.
