Specific vasopressin-sensitive phosphorylation of the collecting duct proteins with molecular mass 15, 20, 25, and 33 kDa, was revealed. The proteins implemented the hormonal effect of vasopressin by means of qualitative molecular modifications with subsequent phosphorylation.

Background: Bok is a poorly characterized Bcl-2 protein family member with roles yet to be clearly defined. It is clear, however, that Bok binds strongly to inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP) receptors (IPRs), which govern the mobilization of Ca from the endoplasmic reticulum, a signaling pathway required for many cellular processes. Also known is that Bok has a highly conserved phosphorylation site for cAMP-dependent protein kinase at serine-8 (Ser-8).

Cyclic nucleotide-gated channel 5 (CNGC5), CNGC6, and CNGC9 (CNGC5/6/9 for simplicity) control Arabidopsis root hair (RH) growth by mediating the influx of external Ca to establish and maintain a sharp cytosolic Ca gradient at RH tips. However, the underlying mechanisms for the regulation of CNGCs remain unknown. We report here that calcium dependent protein kinase 1 (CPK1) directly activates CNGC5/6/9 to promote Arabidopsis RH growth.

Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) is a therapeutic vulnerability in glycolysis-deficient cancers. Here we show that inhibiting OXPHOS similarly suppresses the proliferation and tumorigenicity of glycolytically competent colorectal cancer (CRC) cells in vitro and in patient-derived CRC xenografts. While the increased glycolytic activity rapidly replenished the ATP pool, it did not restore the reduced production of aspartate upon OXPHOS inhibition.

Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs), carrying PD-L1, have been implicated in immune evasion and tumor progression. However, understanding how PD-L1 sEVs are secreted still needs to be improved. We found that the secretion dynamics of PD-L1 sEVs is similar to that of other sEVs.

The degeneration of pyramidal tracts has been reported in frontotemporal lobar degeneration with TDP-43 (TAR DNA-binding protein 43) pathology (FTLD-TDP) type C. Herein, we examined the detailed pathology of the primary motor area and pyramidal tracts in the central nervous system in four autopsy cases of FTLD-TDP type C, all of which were diagnosed by neuropathological, biochemical, and genomic analyses. Three patients showed right dominant atrophy of the frontal and temporal lobes, while the other patient showed left dominant atrophy.
