We report findings in spiral-CT from 11 adolescent or adult patients after atrial switch operation. The results demonstrate that computed tomography, particularly with the use of three-dimensional surface reconstruction, is very useful as a highly sensitive procedure for the detailed depiction of residua and sequelae after inflow correction for complete transposition. Especially systemic venous obstruction (SVO) is a well know complication following Mustard procedure for transposition of the great arteries. Demonstration of such obstruction is important, since the recognition and quantification of caval obstruction by clinical techniques is unreliable and indeed often impossible. Imaging procedures such as spiral computed tomography are important for this purpose. Advantages of spiral computed tomography, particularly with three-dimensional reconstruction, are discussed. The images were compared with findings in echocardiography and/or angiography affecting the site of operation.

The present case report describes the endodontic treatment of a type III B dens invaginatus (DI) in a three-rooted mandibular second molar since the invagination invades the root and extends apically. Clinical and cone-beam computed tomography examination of the mandibular second molar showed a broadened coronal morphology, DI, a third root, periapical radiolucency, and compression of a distal root canal by the invagination, which developed an atypical semilunar shape. The tooth was diagnosed with pulpal necrosis, symptomatic apical, and peri-invagination periodontitis.

The use of Raman spectroscopy, particularly surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), offers a powerful tool for analyzing biochemical changes in biofluids. This study aims to assess the modifications occurring in saliva collected from patients before and after exposure to cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and computed tomography (CT) imaging. SERS analysis revealed significantly amplified spectra in post-imaging samples compared to pre-imaging samples, with pronounced intensification of thiocyanate and opiorphin bands, which, together with proteins, dominated the spectra.

Background/objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop the gemcitabine-loaded drug-eluting beads (G-DEBs) for transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) in rabbit renal tumors and to evaluate their antitumor effect using 2-deoxy-2-[(18)F]fluoro-D-glucose positron emission tomography/X-ray computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT).
Methods: DEBs were prepared by polyvinyl alcohol-based macromer crosslinked with -acryl tyrosine and ,'-methylenebis(acrylamide). Gemcitabine was loaded through ion change to obtain G-DEBs.

Background/objectives: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is associated with an increased risk of adverse musculoskeletal outcomes likely due to heightened chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, and advanced glycation end-products (AGE). Carnosine has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and anti-AGE properties. However, no clinical trials have examined the impact of carnosine on musculoskeletal health in adults with prediabetes or T2D.

Background: Muscle quality and mass in cancer patients have prognostic and diagnostic importance.
Objectives: The objectives are to analyze agreement between gold-standard and bedside techniques for morphofunctional assessment.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included 156 consecutive colorectal cancer outpatients that underwent computed tomography (CT) scanning at lumbar level 3 (L3), whole-body bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), point-of-care nutritional ultrasound (US), anthropometry, and handgrip strength in the same day.
