Objective: The course of metastatic renal cell carcinoma shows a broad range of interindividual variation that cannot be sufficiently predicted by tumor stage and grade. The aim of this study was to establish the prognostic value of DNA ploidy and the proliferation marker Ki-67 in renal cell carcinoma.

Methods: Both parameters were measured simultaneously in 100 tumors and then correlated with the classic prognostic criteria pathologic stage and tumor differentiation grade as well as clinical course (early tumor progression).

Results: DNA ploidy correlated well with staging, grading and early progression. The proliferation index (Ki-67) correlated well with tumor stage and histopathological grade but not with the clinical course (early progression).

Conclusion: Due to the diverse biological potential of renal cell carcinoma observation of further clinical course, including late tumor progression, will be necessary to determine whether one of these two indicators can provide additional information beyond what differentiation grade and tumor stage already tell us.

Objectives: To study the significance of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25-(OH)D] level in the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of children with immunoglobulin A vasculitis nephritis (IgAVN).

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of children with IgAVN who underwent renal biopsy at Suzhou Hospital Affiliated to Anhui Medical University and Jinling Hospital of the Medical School of Nanjing University from June 2015 to June 2020. Based on serum 25-(OH)D level, the patients were divided into a normal group and a lower group.

Background: Resistance to temozolomide (TMZ) remains is an important cause of treatment failure in patients with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). ADAR1, as a member of the ADAR family, plays an important role in cancer progression and chemotherapy resistance. However, the mechanism by which ADAR1 regulates GBM progression and TMZ resistance is still unclear.

Introduction: Pseudotumors are benign lesions which may mimic like a malignant tumor on conventional imaging. They are formed in kidneys which are scarred and deformed by chronic pyelonephritis, glomerulonephritis, trauma or infarction. There is a diagnostic dilemma in most of the cases as to differentiate RCC and pseudotumors.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is characterised by significant genetic heterogeneity, which has diagnostic and prognostic implications. Very limited evidence is available regarding DNA methylation heterogeneity. We therefore generate sequence level DNA methylation data on 136 multi-region tumour and normal kidney tissue from 18 ccRCC patients, along with matched whole exome sequencing (85 samples) and gene expression (47 samples) data on a subset of samples.

Division of Hematology and Oncology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA. Electronic address:

Advancements in microbiome research reveal its impact on cancer treatment outcomes, particularly in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). While immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have improved survival in metastatic RCC, composition of the gut microbiome has the potential to influence their efficacy. Antibiotic-induced microbiome disruptions correlate with diminished outcomes, while strains such as Akkermansia muciniphila, Clostridium butyricum, and others enhance immune responses and progression-free survival.
