The aim of this study was to observe apical root surfaces of teeth with chronic periapical lesions. Five premolars and three molars with radiographically demonstrable periapical lesions were extracted and fixed in 2.5% phosphate-buffered glutaraldehyde solution for 9 days. The apical 3-mm portion of 17 roots was removed and prepared for scanning electron microscope. Lacunar resorption zones were frequently observed on the root surfaces. Bacteria and yeast cells were detected in some of the lacunae. Periapical bacterial plaque with a smooth structure was present mostly around the main apical foramen. Cementum-like tissue deposits indicative of repair were seen adjacent to some resorption areas. Clastic cells tightly attached to crater-like depressions with finger-like projections were observed laterally on the specimens. Current research should be focused on new procedures to eliminate extraradicular microrganisms and periapical bacterial plaque in persistent periapical infections.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare the marginal adaptation of a cold ceramic (CC) sealer with the single-cone obturation technique with that of an AH-26 sealer with the lateral compaction technique in single-canal teeth.
Materials And Methods: In this in vitro experimental study, the root canals of 24 extracted single-rooted single-canal teeth were instrumented to F3 files by the crown-down technique and randomly assigned to 2 groups (n = 12). The root canals were obturated with a CC sealer and single-cone obturation technique with 4% gutta-percha in group 1 and with an AH-26 sealer and lateral compaction technique with 2% gutta-percha in group 2.

Increasing soil salinity causes significant crop losses globally; therefore, understanding plant responses to salt (sodium) stress is of high importance. Plants avoid sodium toxicity through subcellular compartmentation by intricate processes involving a high level of elemental interdependence. Current technologies to visualize sodium, in particular, together with other elements, are either indirect or lack in resolution.

Introduction: This study evaluated the shaping ability of the single-file XP-endo Shaper (XP-S) system, employing an extended working time, and the Reciproc Blue #40/.06 (REC) instrument during the preparation of oval-shaped canals.
Methods: Eleven pairs of contralateral premolars with a single canal were divided into two groups (n = 11) according to the canal preparation protocol: XP-S (with an additional 45 seconds of instrumentation) and REC.

Background: Successful periodontal regeneration depends on primary wound closure and interdental papilla preservation. In this case study, we introduce a novel triangle papilla access approach (T-PAA) performed under a surgical microscope for treating interdental bone defects. In this novel approach, buccal incisions were used to access root surfaces and bone defects, avoiding interdental papilla incisions and preventing papillary collapse and necrosis.

It is widely believed that the aggregation of amyloid β (Aβ) peptides into soluble oligomers is the root cause behind Alzheimer's disease. In this study, we have performed room-temperature molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of aggregated Aβ oligomers of different sizes (pentamer (O(5)), decamer (O(10)), and hexadecamer (O(16))) in binary aqueous solutions containing 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([BMIM][BF]) ionic liquid (IL). Investigations have been carried out to obtain a microscopic understanding of the effects of the IL on the dynamic environment around the exterior surfaces and within the confined nanocores of the oligomers.
