Aim: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most prevalent malignancies, which is commonly treated with curative surgical resection, often leading to intraoperative hypothermia. Therefore, this study aimed to compare and analyze the risk factors for intraoperative hypothermia associated with laparoscopic and open CRC resections under general anesthesia.
Methods: This study included 120 CRC patients admitted between January 2023 and January 2024.

Background And Objectives: Despite growing interest in how patient frailty affects outcomes (eg, in neuro-oncology), its role after transsphenoidal surgery for Cushing disease (CD) remains unclear. We evaluated the effect of frailty on CD outcomes using the Registry of Adenomas of the Pituitary and Related Disorders (RAPID) data set from a collaboration of US academic pituitary centers.
Methods: Data on consecutive surgically treated patients with CD (2011-2023) were compiled using the 11-factor modified frailty index.

Introduction: Postoperative ileus is a known complication of gastrointestinal (GI) surgery. In adult populations, ileus is associated with higher amounts of intraoperative intravenous (IV) fluids. This study examines the relationship between intraoperative IV fluids and postoperative ileus in pediatric patients undergoing GI surgery.

: Current literature has demonstrated the benefits of transversus abdominis plane (TAP) blocks for reducing postoperative pain and opioid consumption for an array of surgical procedures. Some randomized controlled trials and retrospective studies have compared ultrasound guidance TAP blocks completed by anesthesiologists (US-TAP) to laparoscopic guidance TAP blocks completed by surgeons (LAP-TAP). However, the findings of these studies have not been consolidated to improve recommendations and patient outcomes.

Introduction Preoperative fasting is essential in surgical care to reduce the risk of pulmonary aspiration during anesthesia. International guidelines, such as those from the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and the European Society of Anaesthesiology (ESA), recommend fasting durations of six hours for solids and two hours for clear liquids. However, adherence to these guidelines often varies in clinical practice, leading to prolonged fasting times that can negatively impact patient outcomes, including dehydration, hypoglycemia, discomfort, and delayed recovery.
