Kinetic description of the changes of free radical concentration in Geren tumour tissue and in the tissues of liver, lungs, brain at chemotherapeutic application of licopine, selenium and cyclophosphane was obtained by ESR method. Licopine application decreases free radical concentration in the tumour (after the stage of a short-time rise). Similar effects during some periods of the action of carotinoids and of a valuable inhibitor of oxidation--selenium, as well as the citostatics of cyclophosphane allow to suggest that the application of the drug of vitamine A group is expedient in tumour therapy.

This study aimed to optimize the ultrasonic/microwave-assisted extraction (UAME) technique of polysaccharides (EAP-UM) by response surface methodology (RSM). The optimum conditions include: solid-liquid ratio of 1:23 g/mL, ultrasonic power of 252 W, microwave power of 417 W, and extraction time of 11 min. Under these conditions, the yield of polysaccharides reached 7.

is a medicinal plant native to East Asia with its diverse therapeutic potentials. In particular, the antioxidant effect of this plant is well known, but there has been little research on the antioxidant effect according to different habitats or ages. In this study, we evaluated the proximate composition, mineral, saponin, rutin, total phenolic and flavonoid contents, and antioxidant activities of leaf extracts of plants cultivated from two different regions (New Zealand and Jeju Island, Korea) and of the same age (2-year-old plants).

Purpose: By leveraging the small-vessel specificity of velocity-selective arterial spin labeling (VSASL), we present a novel technique for measuring cerebral MicroVascular Pulsatility named MVP-VSASL.
Theory And Methods: We present a theoretical model relating the pulsatile, cerebral blood flow-driven VSASL signal to the microvascular pulsatility index ( ), a widely used metric for quantifying cardiac-dependent fluctuations. The model describes the dependence of the of VSASL signal (denoted ) on bolus duration (an adjustable VSASL sequence parameter) and provides guidance for selecting a value of that maximizes the SNR of the measurement.

Here, we used a combination of laser-induced experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations to study the mechanism of growth of carbonaceous species on the Mg surface. Experimental observations revealed that the carbon deposit forms upon laser illumination on the Mg surface, with the deposit being clearer and better structured in the presence of 1,3-butadiene (C4H6) compared to ethylene (C2H4) gas. DFT thermodynamic and kinetic calculations of C2-C4 hydrocarbons interaction on low-index Mg(0001) were used to explain this experimental observation.

Synthetic photochemistry is an alternative, green and sustainable approach in organic synthesis, offering the possibility for the discovery of novel reactivities. Carboxylic acids are abundant and widely used as suitable radical precursors for light-mediated processes, providing access to products that are not accessible via conventional methods. Herein, we report a green, cheap, metal-free, photochemical decarboxylative protocol for the 1,4-radical conjugate addition (Giese reaction) using thioxanthone, a commercially available organic molecule, or a thioxanthone-triflic acid (TfOH) complex, as the photocatalyst, under LED 427 nm irradiation.
