This study aimed at establishing and evaluating a simple method for surveilling trends in consumption of 10 nutritionally important foods. The method is based on food frequency questions combined with questions on the previous days intake, collected through telephone interviews. Participants (461 men, 546 women, 15-60+ yrs) came from a population sample. Between 22 and 69% consumed the foods in question as frequently as prescribed by the Danish food recommendations (lowest for fish and for vegetables, highest for potatoes/rice/pasta). Characteristic sex and age differences were observed, similar to findings from traditional, quantitative food surveys in Denmark. The food frequency results were confirmed by results from the previous day's intake. Crossing of frequencies for different foods gave additional information on consumption patterns. The results indicate that this very simple method may be a useful supplement to traditional quantitative dietary surveys for surveilling trends in food consumption. The Danish Nutrition Council therefore aims at doing similar surveys every other year.

There is an enormous potential for cell-free protein synthesis (CFPS) systems based on filamentous fungi in view of their simple, fast and mostly inexpensive cultivation with high biomass space-time yields and in view of their catalytic capacity. In 12 of the 22 different filamentous fungi examined, in vitro translation of at least one of the two reporter proteins GFP and firefly luciferase was detected. The lysates showing translation of a reporter protein usually were able to synthesize a functional cell-free expressed unspecific peroxygenase (UPO) from the basidiomycete Cyclocybe (Agrocybe) aegerita.

Patients with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction frequently present asymmetries in the sagittal plane dynamics when performing single leg jumps but their assessment is inaccessible to health-care professionals as it requires a complex and expensive system. With the development of deep learning methods for human pose detection, kinematics can be quantified based on a video and this study aimed to investigate whether a relatively simple 2D multibody model could predict relevant dynamic biomarkers based on the kinematics using inverse dynamics. This study presents the fabrication of highly conducting Au fabric electrodes using a layer-by-layer (LBL) approach and its application toward energy storage. Through the ligand-exchange mechanism, the alternating layers of tris(2-aminoethyl)amine (TREN) and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) encapsulated with tetraoctylammonium bromide (TOABr) ligands (Au-TOABr) were deposited onto the fabric to achieve a highly conducting Au fabric (0.12 Ω/□) at room temperature in just two LBL cycles.
